L.A. Department of Children and Family Services Seize Stun Gun

Hard to believe that a 13-year-old boy could order a stun gun and have it delivered to the Jackson family compound, Hayvenhurst, in Encino, California, but it's happened. Jermaine Jackson's son, Jaafar, purchased a Scorpion 300,000 volt mini stun gun from Scorpion Defense Products online. The gun uses a 9-volt battery and, according to the manufacturer, "fits easily into a pocket or purse" and retails for around $50.

Mike Walters of TMZ says, "Manufacturers of this type of gun say that it won't kill a child. But it definitely hurts; it causes a burn. And if you've ever been shocked by a stun gun, it definitely is not fun."

The gun was delivered to the Jackson house two or three weeks ago. It isn't clear whether it was shipped via the US Postal Service or another carrier. According to California law, it is a misdemeanor for children under 16 without a parent's consent to order a weapon of this type. If the gun has been used on someone, it could constitute a felony. Still, ordering a stun gun online isn't that difficult.

According to Gary at TMZ, "The way these things work is when you order the gun they run your credit card to see who it belongs to verify your age. So if the kid got ahold of mommy or daddy's credit card... Short answer, it's very easy to get one."

"Last [Monday] night at around 10:30, the Department of Children and Family Services were investigating a complaint that one of the kids in the Jackson house had a stun gun," says Harvey Levin of TMZ. "DCFS officials seized the gun. I can tell you the Jackson representatives have confirmed all that. Randy Jackson told me that it was never in the hands of any of the kids. We had heard from a very credible rep that Jaafar actually bought this gun online and we are told that the security guards had heard the sounds for days that they couldn't recognize and they went upstairs last Tuesday and saw the kids playing with the gun and trying to stun Blanket." Blanket, an 8-year-old, is one of Michael Jackson's children. His other two, Prince and Paris, all live at the compound under the care of Michael's mother, Katherine. Fourteen people regularly live there with others staying on occasion.

"This is considered a very serious investigation by DCFS," says Levin.

DCFS plans to interview Michael Jackson's kids and all the other kids at the house, one by one, in a two-day investigation. They will interview all the employees at the house and family members. DCFS will determine if Michael's kids, and the other children that live there, are in a safe environment. Amnesty International reports that in the United States alone, 334 people died from 2001 and 2008 after being zapped with Tasers.
