So, you're interested in either starting or adding to a collection of what's called 'collectibles'. You want something that is not easy to break, though. Where do you turn? Here are some suggestions regarding sturdy collectibles:

Cookbooks. How many people just love to collect cookbooks to read the recipes and look at the beautiful pictures? Many. This is obvious when you go to thrift stores, flea markets, estate sales, or used bookstores. Cookbooks can be either hard cover or soft cover (paperback, spiral-bound, bound). They come in all shapes and sizes. They come in specialized subjects such as Italian, Crockpot Cooking, and Low Fat Cooking. They come in a generalized format such as Betty Crocker, which is divided into subject areas. Any way you look at it, cookbook collecting is a hobby shared by many.

Barbie. Barbie has been around for 40 plus years (a rough estimate). This doll has provided thousands of youngsters with hours of fun. By collecting Barbie, you can get a hold of a variety of years, models, and styles. Barbies can have brown, blonde, or black hair. Barbies come in all career modes, including princess. Plus, you can collect the clothes going along with a certain style Barbie. This is a great collection for those wanting to see the evolution of a popular doll.

Marbles. Until you get involved in the world of marbles, you have no idea about how diverse and complex it can be. There can be some big money in this collectible field. Marbles can be stored in either a compartmentalized carrying/display case. Or, simply keep them in a glass Mason jar or a plastic bag. These last two methods of storage are not recommended for marbles worth a lot of money, though. The compression of the marbles may cause scratching. The more scratches on your marbles, the less value you will receive for them.

Coins. Coin collecting provides a wonderful variety of options. Gold, silver, or any precious metal will make for a good collection of coins. To avoid scratching, and for more organization, some coins need to be stored in a display case. Some collectors like to have a safe deposit box for the safety of their collection. Many coins need to be purchased through a commodity broker. Check around to see how you can start a prosperous coin collection.

Potholders and oven mitts. Many cooking enthusiasts love to collect potholders and oven mitts. Since materials consist mainly of cotton, quilt, and/or lined terrycloth, they are considered sturdy. They are easy to take care of, also. Collectors simply need to wash and dry them. Depending on the material, it may require a gentle cycle. Potholders and oven mitts can come in all shapes, colors, and sizes.

Matchbox holders. These old time collector items can be harder to find them than other collectibles. They are made of materials ranging from metal to porcelain. For those unaware, they are made to hold the thick wood handled matches. A typical use is found in lighting a barbeque. The match holder itself hangs on the wall, usually.

Hot Wheels. Who doesn't love a good miniature Hot Wheel? They date back years, so you can see the evolution involved. . Hot Wheels come in varying colors, sizes, and forms. Choose whichever you are interested in.

By purchasing any of the above-mentioned sturdy collectibles, you are bound to have years of pleasure.
