The arena at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino was the site of the 100th World Championships in Figure Skating. Pang & Tong won in Pairs. USA's Meryl Davis & Charlie White won the silver medal in ice dancing. Men's & Ladies Singles went to Japan.

The 2010 Winter Games concluded the women's figure skating event on Thursday night, and it was a great finish to the free skate program with several women having a chance at that gold medal.

It was another great event for Canada and Christine Nesbitt as they took home gold in the 1000 meter speed skating. Kristina Groves of Canada finished fourth by just .06 seconds out of the bronze medal.

The 1000 meter speed skating event was really nice for the United States men's Olympic team, as they won both gold and bronze in the event on Wednesday afternoon.

The opening of the first event in figure skating is the Pairs. It was the Short Program, the equivalent to the semi-finals that determine the Top 8 pairs skaters who will compete in the finals.

Johnny Weir has stated that he received threats because of his choice to wear fur while skating at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships this year, and planned to wear it at the Olympics too.
