Spiders around the yard

Here's a fun project for kids and adults alike. You'll end up with a bunch of scary looking spiders, ready to decorate your spooky Halloween party or Haunted House!

These charted or graphed spiders are ideal for all you needlework needs.

Some close up images of spiders, butterflies, bees, and predatory insects like the Praying Mantis and the super crazy looking Wheel bug. All which are beneficial to us humans. All images were taken at the end of summer, except for the Mole Cricket.

I got a photo of this Spiny Orb Weaver Spider that was weaving a web on our lanai. We've seen these spiders come and go often here in Florida. I had never seen one before this. We called it a "Smiley Face Spider".

I found this spider hanging out on the side of my house. We've been seeing lots of tiny brown spiders that looked almost like recluses, but I think this is the momma. (Eastern West Virginia)

The female southern black widow spider has the characteristic red hourglass on the underside of her abdomen. Contrary to popular belief, female black widows do not always kill and eat their mates.

Spiders have little protection from the rain. Sometimes it and other debris gets caught up in their webs instead of insects.

Many different animals can be found in one habitat. Spiders, frogs and toads are often neighbors around ponds and lakes. These animals live near Echo Lake in Glen Allen, Virginia.

A photo of a jumping spider that I took while camping at Spruce Run State Park in New Jersey. It took several shots to get this one which shows the spiders eyes and even the hairs on it's legs clearly.
