It had rained the day before. Many ponds of water on the ground, so I remembered the first ever photography project my teacher gave me, reflections! In every photo there is a reflection. If you want to feel brand new to move on, it's back to basics time!

John Philip Holland's Submarine #1. Holland was a Paterson, New Jersey teacher who designed submarines and this is his first built design. Holland is known today as the Father of the Modern Submarine. The US Navy's Holland submarines are named for him.

My father, Eli Ellison, died in 2004 at age 81. Some of his memory lives on in these photographs. He was a beloved father and friend, a dedicated teacher, a World War II radio man, an athlete, and an eternal optimist.
