  • Joy DeVito
Ever since I can remember, I have had a fascination and love for the written word, never without my precious journal close at hand. Whether it be a Haiku expressing my thoughts or feelings of the moment, or a short story pulled from the farthest reaches of my imagination, I was never at a loss for words. Having been born and raised in a tiny town in Southern Germany, I was afforded a unique perspective on life. As I grew I took every opportunity to travel, seeing most of Europe before the age of 13 and of course returning to my favorite countries as an adult. When I was 13 my parents moved to the US, precisely Southern California, where I would remain until I married. During my time in California, I dove into several hobbies head on: painting, cooking, fashion design, gardening and of course honing my writing skills. I married a head strong Jersey Boy, was married for 18 years raising 4 beautiful children, and have been divorced for 12 years. During my marriage we all moved back to Germany for 6 years, where I went to the University of Maryland (Heidelberg Satellite Campus) and obtained 2 BA's, one in Early Childhood Development and one Social Anthropology. I also received a Culinary arts degree from the Coquus Escuela de Cocina, Barcelona, Spain. With these tools, I have done everything from teach kindergarten, to be a mommy , and even a chef at a mediocre restaurant, all the while writing, writing, writing. I have been published several times and look forward to expanding my portfolio and becoming a full time writer.
