Founded in 1913, Hillsides is a foster care children's charity servings kids and their families in Los Angeles County, including Pasadena. We provide safe places for children at risk , strengthen families, provide special education, and advocate for children's rights.

I have a degree in Human Relations. I hav worked with children for over 30 years in the areas of teaching, I have also worked with the special needs population.

I consider being a mother my calling and I have six biological and two step children to keep my hours full. However, in the interest of my own sanity and theirs, I have had outside jobs. I have worked in the restaurant business, in childcare and as a beauty consultant. Since finding out that I have lupus I am a full time mom again. I am 43 and have four autoimmune diseases: diabetes (type1), celiac, hypothroidism and now lupus. I believe that being positive and having faith in God is the key to living-especially when confronted with illness and pain.

I am a proud, worn out, run-down,single mother of five exceptional children,ages 16,13,11,8 and 7 running on a continuous flow of coffee and chocolate. I am also a nanny to three children while my children are in school.I recently found the courage to escape an abusive marriage which left us homeless and penniless but with a new found happiness because we no longer need to walk on eggshells. I vow to never give up, to continue to be positive, no matter how hard our struggles may be.I want to spread the word to other women like me who are living in fear, that if I can do it, they can too. I am also an unpublished writer. I have written a few humorous children s books, a few written with the help of my kids, and I am working on a novel. I figure with the amount of free time I have it will be published posthumously.

EET ME AT THE CORNER, Virtual Field Trips for Kids, was founded in 2006 by Donna W. Guthrie, the author of more than twenty award-winning books for children. Donna has taught kindergarten through fifth grade in both public and private schools in Pennsylvania and Colorado and is a visiting professor at Colorado College where she teaches children's writing. Her picture book, The Witch Who Lives Down the Hall (Harcourt Brace, 1985) was a Literary Guild and Book of the Month Club selection and was included in the School Library Journal's Best Books for Children. Nobiah's Well (Ideals Publishing, 1990) was also a Book of the Month Club selection and received the Parents Prize from Parents Magazine for the Very Best for the Very Young.
