  • Dr. Shandra Terrell Williams
Dr. Williams was born and raised in rural Alabama. She would later travel throughout the nation earning a BA, an M.Ed. and a Ph.D. She spent more than 20 years in teaching and administration on college campuses working with both traditional and non-traditional programs and has consulted and worked in government and community-based agencies. As a senior-level administrator, she served as president of a community-based agency, an assistant dean for student affairs, and director of teacher education centers at two universities. Traveling throughout the nation brought about a sensitivity to, and an appreciation of, ethnic and cultural diversity. Those experiences started a long road of learning how to build consensus with people. Dr. Williams has experience leading diversity issues and training in non-profit, government, and education environments and has been praised for her non-confrontational style. “I understand that life experiences may filter the way in which we see the world. I believe in working with clients in a peaceful manner to help them understand how their beliefs may be interpreted by diverse audiences to avoid embarrassing public apologies,” she said. She has a strong belief in accountability and is not afraid to walk away from unethical consultant contracts. Dr. Williams has assisted with program planning, grant technical support and program evaluation. She enjoys watching an organization bring mere words on paper to life in vibrant activities for children, families and communities. In 2008, she left academia during a brief illness and established Ready for College to help K-12 grade children through after school activities, field trips and collegiate partnerships. She conceptualized the organization because throughout her academic career, she noticed students who were repeating courses, whose parents were paying for tutors and extra courses when their children were failing course after course.

  • Project Indigenous
Project Indigenous, founded by Mr. Scott Frazier, provides quality educational programs that teach from the Indigenous perspective through the humanities. As a Crow/Santee elder with decades of experience in the environmental arenas, Mr. Frazier focuses on fields relating to the preservation and respect for Native lands, natural resources and Native cultures. Bringing understanding and insight to a wide cross-section of the general public is the primary goal for all programs presented by Project Indigenous. Approaching the issues confronting modern society, these programs bring the Indigenous perspective to such topics as cultural diversity, environmental protection, care of natural resources and the overall wellness within given cultures. When addressing societal cultural diversity, Mr. Frazier shares from his own American Indian heritage and background experience to bridge the gaps created by myth and stereotype. These programs are meant to bring greater respect and understanding between different ethnic backgrounds that may lead to better communication when addressing shared issues. Programs available through Project Indigenous are often tailor-made to meet the needs of the specific audience. While teaching from the Indigenous perspective, the materials are well suited to both public and private sectors.
