Richard SmithI was born 13 months after Pearl Harbor and grew up on the New Jersey shore. I volunteered for Joe McCarthy in '51 and served two years with the Air Force's Ground Observer Program in '55 & '56. I joined the Navy before being "dismissed" from college for calling a professor a communist. After Naval ServiceI I went on to work for Whirpool Corp and Carrier Corp in upper management positions and wound up with a strong bias against unions. I began my own construction business and operated it for 18 years. I also flew aircraft for 15 years and operated a aircraft charter service in Atlantic City. I was a super over achiever and a work-a-holic, a classic "A" personality that believes in self-reliance and self-sufficiency and expects government to stay out of the way. And I am a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment and have a concealed carry permit along with a number of firearms. And btw, I have been battling a rare form of cancer, carcinoid syndrome, for 23 years! And experienced four heart attacks, the first at 37 years of age. I also gave away about $140K to those in need. I found out the hard way that family and health were much more important than money.
