I relocated to the country less than one week before a category five hurricane hit. Immediately, I jumped into action and reported on the catastrophic event and the recovery to follow. At GIS, my duties included coordinating production shoots, conducting interviews, writing and editing news packages and public service announcements, and enterprising stories about education, immigration, and tourism. I also created original series, such as GIS: Get in Shape, Senior Salute, and A Day in the Life. Although Grand Cayman is a small place, the country consists of more than 150 nationalities. By working in such a diverse environment, I sharpened my communication skills and learned about various cultures and interpretations of the news. I obtained further international reporting experience by traveling with Cayman government delegations to New York, Honduras, Panama, Washington, DC, and elsewhere. My work has received recognition from the Caribbean Broadcasting Union and the Pan American Health Organization.
