Annette CalhounRegistered Nurse, Political Observer I was born in 1964 in the country of West Germany. A German Citizen, raised by German grandparents during the Cold War, I became aware of many political and ethical issues at an early age. My hometown is Fulda, located 30 miles west of the region where the once infamous Iron Curtain once stood guard, separating the Free from the Imprisoned. As a child I learned about many endeavors, my grandfather undertook to resist the Hitler Regime; and as an adult I built on this knowledge by making sure to learn more about the Jewish community, its culture, traditions and believe system. The Fulda Gap '" as the area around my birthplace is known in military circles was the one place, where ambush of Communistic Forces from the USSR was expected at any given moment. Due to this fact, there was a heavy presence of American Soldiers, which consequently resulted in many German / American marriages. So, I too, came to the United States as an Immigrant Military Wife, became an American Citizen by naturalization and perused the American Dream, complete with children, a career ladder, and a house with a white picket fence. I am a Registered Nurse, specializing in Childbirth and Obstetrics; and I am proud to report that over the years I have help many lives enter into this world safely. Time and life events eventually turned an at first happy marriage, into despair, resulting in a quick divorce, followed by a rebound relationship that brought about an entirely new set of problems. Now facing the challenges of being re-married and totally in love with a man who is a recovering drug abuser and alcoholic, I am concentrating on getting through one day at a time with the energy and strength afforded to me by the grace of God. In the meantime I am keeping focused on my wonderful profession as a Registered Nurse, keeping my finger on the pulse of life, observing current events and keeping watchful over the political affairs everywhere.

Oliver J DeSofiBorn in Cuba, educated in Germany. After WWII became a teenage spy for the US in Soviet occupied East Germany. After 2 years of this clandestine activity, returned to my native country. Continued my education at the University of Havana. Prior to Castro's takeover, legally immigrated to the US arriving with limited resources. Employed by American Airlines and within four years was one of few selected for AA's new Data Processing organization to develop and implement the first commercial interactive communications system in the world, AA's famous SABRE system, the foundation of the current on-line systems. By the end of the sixties, was chosen to head up the SABRE organization in Tulsa, OK. Concurrently, worked for the FBI as an undercover operative exposing Castro inspired activities intended to harm our country. Recruited by the banking industry to recreate a similar computer environment as that used by the airlines, using my innovative and technically challenging concepts. Became a top bank executive at one of the 10 largest banks in the world. Subsequently retained by a Computer Services Co. to become their President & CEO. Retired early from this position to add medical expertise to my broad portfolio in order to become a 24/7 professional caregiver for my wife. She suffers from the severest form of Multiple Sclerosis, which has resulted in her becoming a quadriplegic. I have dedicated over 24 years to this complex job. While gaining my expertise in this intriguing field, I did consulting work for American Airlines and right after the first Gulf War was retained by the premier Saudi Arabian bank, Arab National Bank in Riyadh as their Head of Operations and Chief Technologist. I published my autobiography titled "Intrigue, Capitalism, Love - My True Story" and a second book titled "Caregiving-My Story-Your Guide." I am listed in Who's Who in the World, in America and in Science and Engineering.

Gail WinfreeOriginally from Nashville, Tennessee, I joined the Army and, in 1974, was transferred to Germany where I met Monika. We married in 1976. I separated from the Army in 1982 and stayed in Germany. I worked for the government for a couple of years before leaving my job to freelance. I spent 8 years teaching college part-time, 15 years tour guiding part-time, and 6 years working for the Red Cross part-time. During that time, I managed to complete my BA in English, BS in Journalism, and MS in Public Administration. In 1987, I wrote and published K-town: A City Guide, the first English language book about Kaiserslautern, a city in southwestern Germany with a large U.S. military population. In 1994, I went to work for the USO in Kaiserslautern where I'm currently the tours and marketing manager. I also publish the monthly USO magazine, Kaiserslautern Kabel, for the English language community here. Monika and I live in an old (1875) farm house in the Palatinate Forest area that we share with five pugs'"Balou, Pauly, Smiggy, Saschka, and Pommes'" and a farmyard full of cats. My recently published book of poetry and short stories, Things I Remember, is available at Amazon and other online bookstores.
