As a successful entrepreneur and business owner, I have experienced the roller coaster of success and renewal that defines the challenge and reward of self employment. I have developed and honed my business skills in in the construct of becoming expert in the field of computer troubleshooting and repair. These skill sets are intertwined and interdependent: without a salable skill, there is no business, and without business, there is no need for the skill. I have been increasingly successful as a computer repair business owner, and have built and sold these organizations in multiple markets across the western United States. My life is not a vacuum, though. I am an accomplished guitar player, and if computers are what tweaks my brain, its music that drives my soul. I love guitars, and the music they make. I have become intimately involved with enhancing guitar sound, and the tech in me taught me how to strip down, upgrade, and rebuild guitars. I look forward to sharing my experiences and insights, and hope that I may be able to provide some small help or inspiration.

  • Christian Doering
I live about 100 miles north of San Francisco on the "Mendonoma Coast" at the boundary between Sonoma and Mendocino counties. When I'm not online, I'm probably writing marketing communications and technical documents for a variety of clients. You can find out more about my consulting practice, Me, Ink at http://doering-mba.com. That's right, I do have an M.B.A. (with Distinction, no less) from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. I also earned a B.A. in English from Harvard. When I am not working, I'm probably playing jazz one of my guitars, or playing tennis, or walking our golden retriever, or fixing a meal with my wife Lis. I attempt to preserve the possibility of evolution for humanity and Planet Earth through various forms of meditation and physical activity designed to generate the higher energies that are required for this purpose. On the social level, I am interested in promoting new economic paradigms, and in the separation of business and state. Both of these concepts are based on the work of the late Jane Jacobs, a political economist with extremely original ideas that are grounded in factual observations.

  • Martin Ratchet
My wife and I write for our dear teacher, Lester Bangs. His footprints continue to keep us sucking the last drops out of pop-culture's alliance with "Rock 'N' Roll" as it remains known in history; though fragmented beyond repair, the underground stations wave through people's stories, influencing the kids to keep on picking up the cheap guitar and starting a garage band. They can record themselves, sell themselves, and sometimes they're worth writing maturity and wisdom, and sometimes they're not worthy of hurting their own innocent ears with their immediate failures, all recording while learning to play their guitars. Good to learn this way, but disheartened faces too soon hear the obnoxious noises from their crappy gear and expect more. Keep at it guys, you'll be respectful players someday, but is that what Rock N Roll's about? Technology isn't magical, so it ruins the aesthetic elements in the art. DON'T PLAY FOR BIG MONEY OR WE'LL DESPISE YOU. It's ok to succeed, but play from the heart. 2011 --M&C Ratchet
