I am a wife and mother of two. For the most part my life has been an adventure. I was born in California, lived in North Carolina, Germany, and Iowa when I was growing up. I married my high school sweet heart who eventually joined the army. My husband's first duty station was Hawaii, loved all the people I met and the beautiful beaches. We currently moved to Colorado due to my husband's career. Life is great so far! I just finished my Associate's Degree in Accounting and currently seeking employment. The job market has been difficult or at least I haven't had much luck. I enjoy my children but I also enjoy working outside the home. Meeting new people is exciting to me, probably because I have been doing it my entire life. My son and daughter give me the motivation everyday to do what needs to be done. I have to say I have been blessed in many different ways and hope to share my blessings and experiences with everyone I meet.
  • Jen Butera
My name is Jen Butera, and I have an A.A. in business and recently completed my B.A. in marketing. For the past 20 years I worked in the administrative field, and now I find myself at a career crossroads. Creative projects have always sparked my interests, but it was not until college that I found my passion for writing. Mathematics made me sweat bullets while essay-based courses were normally completed with ease. Rarely did I find writing guidelines that were difficult to meet, no matter what the subject. At first I was unsure of my newly found skills, but after several classes had passed, my grades had me convinced (let's forget about the math grades though, shall we?). Time passed quickly, and July 2010 marked the date of my graduation. In the anticipation of finishing school I was stoked about entering the marketing field. For years I saw people get hired right out of college and into positions that were above an administrative assistant. I wanted the same to happen for me, and envisioned getting that dream job. After all these years I would finally get my very own cubicle and a higher salary. Well...not exactly. The current economy and struggling job market forced me to change that vision. After some soul searching I decided to live up to my motto and do something I love. So here I am - ready to embark on the real world of online writing. Hopefully people will enjoy my work as much as I enjoy creating it.
  • Susie Schade-Brewer
My first love is historical novel and fiction writing. My passion is the 19th century - the Old West, horses, cowboys, wagons - I love 'em all. Another venue of my writing service is article writing, a very effective marketing technique used to promote small & web-ready businesses. My historical fiction novel, The Sacrifice of the Sage Hen, released in March 2009 - is set in 1850's pre-Civil War Missouri. Available at amazon.com, www.bn.com and other online book stores as well as through my websites. The bread and butter of my professional writing service is in the creation of custom-written resumes and cover letters, leaving the templates to those less creative. I take great pride in producing strong, effective documents that perfectly fit my clients' experience and training so they can hit the job market with confidence & pride.
  • Alex Hoskinson
I graduated from the University of Colorado in December of 2008 and didn't find the job market I was hoping for. After various short-term jobs, I decided to put my business career on hold and pursue my passion for travel. This led me to teaching English overseas in Hungary. I'm spending this year in a town on the Great Hungarian Plain. Being almost to the Romanian border, it is pretty remote and supplies me with plenty of unique and interesting stories. I've been working on building a travel blog turned travel website (AlexWillTravel.com), and it has shown me how much I enjoy writing. I hope to be able to travel the world, share my stories, and inspire others to leave their comfort zone in search of adventure.

I recently earned a Master's degree in biology, which examined effects of environmental stressors on frog health. I am the mother of a little boy, and am currently re-entering the job market. I exercise every day and eat healthy foods, which I love to cook. I have a green conscience, and I do my best to reduce, reuse and recycle. I keep track of world headlines, and I read novels for personal pleasure. I have traveled to exotic locations, and hope to do so again soon. The best thing that ever happened to me was becoming a mother.

My entrapaneural start was in 1979, I had it with working for someone else decided to strike out on my own as a mechanic. I did well but was bored, I decided to move into the automotive collision field where I owned one of the largest collision centers in the state. Fear of health caused me to move back into the job market as a project manager for an international machinery manufacturing company. I did well; the company did not. After downsizing I was offered a job as VP of operations for a national realestate company based in Phoenix, After several years I moved back to Washington State and started work in operations management for a fortune 500 company. I still work with this company and have been promoted many times, currently on a regional level dealing with hundreds of employees and all sales and operational duties.

I'm originally from right here in Independence, but wandered around for awhile after high school. I spent four years in the Army as an Intelligence Analyst, and after that followed both husbands one and two to their respective military bases and homes of record, finally returning here with my second husband (and two sons) about fifteen years ago. My oldest son developed behavior problems, which led to diagnoses of both non-hyper ADD and Bi Polar Disorder. Shortly thereafter, we learned where he got it. We both take medication now. Number 2 son struggled with obesity and hyperinsulinism, but has it under control. Did I mention that after we moved back here, we also had a daughter? She is ten now, and her ADHD is so severe that we thought she might be autistic. In the middle of all that, I thought it would be a good idea to get my education, (because to be honest, I was sick of being financially dependent on a man who was never home) so I enrolled with University of Phoenix Online, and five years later had a Bachelors degree in IT. Unfortunately, the degree didn't come with a hundred years experience, so it hasn't done me much good in the job market. However, I did learn to write essays and was able to earn a little money doing that. Gradually I learned about other online writing opportunities, and took advantage of them. Additionally, I was blessed with reconnecting with a man I first met when I was 18 and he was 31. We were both stationed in Korea at the time, and I considered him my older brother, father confessor, etc. Now, I consider him the love of my life and my best friend. In the midst of all the madness and chaos that has been my life, there were a few constants, including my love of music and books (what writer doesn't love books?). There have always been "critters" in my life as well. Right now, we have three cats, two dogs, assorted frogs and lizards, and whatever is in my daughter's hand. My life is never dull!

I graduated as a Writing major from Ithaca College, an experience that in no way prepared me for the cold, apathetic reality of the modern job market. I sweat blood in order to graduate in just three years, and now I work in a mall. Ain't life grand?
