I am a single parent of two beautiful boys. I was married for 20 years until my husbands death in 2007. I have learned through my life what is most important. The best way to describe my life is I love spending time with my boys, getting lost in dance at the hottest club, driving really fast, summer days and nights at the lake, listening to my kids giggle, nights snuggled up in a tent listening to the rain, rainy days and thunderstorms, caty dids and crickets singing in the summertime, time spent in front of a GREAT fire, the sound of drums and loud music, having loving arms wrapped around me, snuggles, passionate kisses, eating lots of chocolates and most of all...hanging with those I love. I enjoy music and movies and internet surfing.

::I'm an artist - I'm all about color, words, light, imagination, creating, dreaming and expression:: ::ME, the GIRL:: I'm an organic vegan artist from Pennsylvania-wife, mom, gramama, sister, aunt, friend, animal companion mom. I'm an adopted, nature girl, night-owl, vampyre buff who practices Yoga and loves animals, nature, movies, reading, gardening, rafting, camping, red wine, road trips, loud music, cooking, baking, working with herbs, using natural remedies, the arts, horror related books/movies and the paranormal. I'm eclectic - eccentric, passionate, a goof-ball, stubborn, a hippie and creative. ::ME, the ARTIST:: I work in a variety of artistic mediums - I'm a photographer, painter, drawer, designer, writer & crafter. In the past, I freelanced for a variety of publications. Since, I've turned my artistic interest to my own, indie ventures. To try & distinguish my styles, I've opened nichè online shops and publish nichè blogs. Although, I'm still represented by stock agencies, and I write for a few, select sites.

The Garden district is located North of Lusaka Town Center and is home to over 7,000 people. At best, it can be could an unplanned settlement, and at worse, it could be called a slum. While the culture is as rich as the mango and avocado trees growing throughout the town, the people are poor and sparsely employed. As you approach the vicinity, loud music blares from the many nightclubs and bars, ...the most popular form of recreation and entertainment. What's worse is that the children seem follow in the footsteps of the adults. Many fall victim to the dangerous vices of alcohol and drug abuse. A lot of children leave their homes and end up living on the streets from as young as 8 years old. These unfortunate circumstances stem mainly from a lack of productive infrastructure and boredom. Since its inception in 2005, Youth for Sport, Restoration, and Rehabilitation (YOFOSO) has sought to give the children not only a safe place to grow and thrive, but also productive programmes to engage the children. YOFOSO now has their own building that serves as a social center for the youth, complete with a library, internet cafe, and a business center. YOFOSO's most recent success stories include Samuel Mwale, who starred in the film "Mwansa the Great". YOFOSO also has a soccer team, the Young Gunners, which recently made it to the semi-finals in the Lusaka Tournament.

Mila Maretti, a stay at home mom balances out the pressures of day-to-day living through Yoga with her husband and 7-year-old daughter by her side. Her 40 something body and 8-year marriage have never been hotter. Yoga on a San Diego beach is a great way she recharges herself. Her secret indulgence is listening to loud music in the car and letting the wind rush in from all directions.

I work at home in northern Minnesota, reading, writing, and thinking. Married, with two young adult sons, I have lived in the region most of my life (with a brief, painful interlude on the East Coast). My large, loud extended family of 57 people (yes, 57!) lives mostly within driving distance. We love the area, but like the winters less and less. Especially when it lasts into May, as it has done this year -- snow on May 1! I am an avowed bibliophile; my biggest problem is where to put more books.

I'm a divorcee who works from home and I thoroughly enjoy what I do. Writing out loud is good therapy for me. It helps me cope with change. I write memoirs, short stories, and poetry to help me understand the meaning behind what is happening. Some enjoy it, some don't... This keyboard is a good friend and listens well, so I blast my feelings, hurt and ideas out into the black hole of the internet, and I can only hope that my pulling through it all helps another realize they can do it too.
  • Kevin VanAntwerpen
