Gretchen MeyersI am a parent and an educator. I have 12 years of experience teaching K-8 students including gifted, English Language Learners, and multi-age classrooms. I love to spend time with my family, read mysteries and children's books, watch movies and write.
Tracey KathrynAm I too old to invest in? As a Midwest-based writer and blogger, I was shocked to hear that I was too old to hire by a potential employer. As a result, in conjunction with a gerontologist, I started a blog to discuss age-related issues in life and in the work place. I have many years experience in the communications business and I'm currently working on a master's degree in English, professional and creative writing emphasis. In addition to writing features and news stories, I write creative pieces and I'm working on my first novel. My specialty areas include aging, domestic violence, equestrian topics, humor, suspense, and culinary mysteries. Recently, I was a semi-finalist in the Wilhemina 40-plus model search 2011 as well as a finalist in the Alice in Dairyland competition 2011.
Rick AmandanRick Amandan is a nuclear scientist, electronics engineer, and computer programmer who retired after working on several major national research projects. He is a veteran and father of four with significant life experience as an artist, journalist, and broadcast radio personality. His love of knowledge and learning, and for investigating the mysteries of the universe, makes him a true philosopher and his passion has always been to use his multiple talents and wide-ranging expertise to make the future a better place for us all. Throughout his life he has acted on that passion by persistently challenging the status quo and those who seek to perpetuate it just for the sake of sustaining their personal advantages and power over others. He doesn't like bullies of any rank or class. He is a staunch independent voter and a veteran volunteer for numerous progressive political campaigns and causes dating back to the 1960s. And he remains a citizen activist and vocal advocate for free speech, freedom of religion, the separation of church and state, clean and green energy, preserving the environment, space exploration, the right to bear arms, the rights of the poor, the elderly, the sick, and the disabled, and the right to be left alone.
Carole RankinI am a single mother, and have been a graduate student in social science, state government employee and am now retired. I have been married and am not now. I've lived most of my life in the midwest.
Alaina PattersonAlaina is a woman in her mid-twenties, and has never categorized herself as such before now. Excuse her while she pours herself a strong one to mask the pain of growing old. She categorizes herself as an avid reader, and has been since her third year. She enjoys most genres: literature (classic and modern), mysteries, travelogues, and humor are her favorites, while she will read the occasional romance to give her brain a break. In addition to books, television and movies are her second and third loves. Her TiVo routinely is at least 70% full, between the NBC comedy block, Conan on TBS, Futurama, Project Runway, Top Chef, and some old movies from Turner Classics. She is unashamed to admit that The Vampire Diaries is, indeed, her favorite show. (Shut up.) As you have probably guessed, Alaina is also rather fond of speaking of herself in the third person. By day, she is lower-level management at a local-yet-internationally-known retailer. By night, she fights crime and whips up pastries that put Betty Crocker to shame. Also, she writes a lot, though she never seems able to complete any of her many works in progress. You can follow her book reviews at That's What She Read(thtswhatsheread.wordpress.com).
