I am an award-winning full-time travel writer, contributing to newspapers, magazines, and websites in the UK and worldwide. In addition I've written over 30 guidebooks, one podcast, three radio plays, a collection of my travel writing, and a crime novel. My awards include a Travelex Award, a BGTW Award, two Awards for Excellence from the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild, a Benjamin Franklin Award in the USA for a guidebook to Paris, and being chosen in 2010 by the Press Gazette as one of the 50 Most Influential Travel Journalists in the UK. In 2011 I was chosen as AITO Online Travel Writer of the Year. I have worked for travel clients including National Geographic, American Express, The Washington Post, The Times of London, Fodor’s, AAA, Insight Guides, Dorling Kindersley, Michelin Guides, New Holland, Thomas Cook, and many more. I publish several travel content websites, and divide my time between the UK and Arizona.

I am a reporter covering crime and state government for a trio of local newspapers in Southern Maryland. In college I covered the Maryland Terrapins football and softball teams for The Diamondback, the university's student newspaper. A lifelong Maryland resident and sports geek, I have limitless (meaningless) opinions regarding sports in the DMV and an insatiable drive to force feed them to others.

The wins provide my family with free tickets to movies and events that otherwise are not affordable on a tight budget.
