I wonder how many people dreamed of being a dreamer for a living. I have never known really what I want to spend the rest of my life doing, but I sure do love dreaming about all of the things that I would like to do. I dreamed of being a doctor, a singer, a surgeon, a boat captain, a naval architect, a writer...the list goes on as I continue to make more dreams. Since then I have scratched the idea of becoming a doctor but have taken great pride in working in a hospital taking care of Oncology patients. With a history of cancer at a young age the gift of survival I feel that this is good payback for the blessing I, my self, received, While I never became a boat captain I do enjoy running boats on the Great Lakes in the summer time with my family and friends. And again, I never did become a naval architect, but I am preparing to build my first boat in my parents' garage, much to their dismay. And finally, while I have never published a book or written for a high profile magazine, I did graduate from a reputable university with a Bachelor of Arts in the field of Writing and Rhetoric. Dreams start small and take a long time to chase. It is my hope that having an opportunity to contribute to the Yahoo! network and publish my own work, that I will be more able to call my self a "writer," along with "boat builder," "captain," "nurse," and whatever other dreams come my way.

I am a Registered Nurse with a specialty in Oncology. I have been a type 1 Diabetic for 34 years, and I have a vast interest in education. I have a beautiful daughter in her third year of college this year, and she and I love to take a yearly trip to different cities here in theUnited States. I am a newly motivated blogger, and I have created a blog called Diabetic Humility. I have joined Yahoo, so that I may share my nursing knowledge, as well as my experiences living with diabetes. I hope that I may educate someone with my research skills that I have acquired from graduate school, accompanied by my experience as an actual patient. I look forward to reading other articles, and getting to know other people through the eyes which lead to their beautiful lives, which we sometimes call, words. I look forward to reading your stories.

I'm a 46yo woman, twice divorced & currently in a monogamous relationship. I'm a Christian & a registered nurse, working on an Oncology unit at a hospital. I have a 26yo son & 6yo grandson. As an Oncology nurse I have learned to appreciate each day I am given. I choose to fill these days helping others, but in the process I neglect myself. I'm at a place in life where I'm ready & willing to take better care of myslf. I don't smoke & on ocassions have a few glasses of wine. I eat relatively healthy, but could do better. My biggest dilema is finding time for physical fitness. Historically, I've maintained a healthy weight & fitness level until my last divorce in 2003. Since then, I have gained 30lbs & am SICK ABOUT IT! I hate the appearance of my body when I look in the mirror. I have a wonderful "Skinny" wardrobe that I can't fit into, but vow that I will again. I am here today seeking encouragement, insight, & advice from a community of people who share my similar struggles. I hope to gain & share knowledge that will lead me to live a happier, healthier life. Peace be with us as we journey!
