I am a U.S Army Veteran. I am presently Self employed as a Public Speaker/ Life Coach and concurrently volunteering as a Mentor in my Community with Goodwill Goodguides Youth Program. I am passionate about working with young people because they are "Our Future". I believe in giving back to the Community and every where I travel I try to touch one youth's life, I do not try to change them but to realize their fullest potential. I always try to put my feet in their shoes and see their situation through their eyes before giving any assistance or advice. Sometimes all they may need is a listening ear so they can hear the beat of the drum that they dance to. I remember my experience at their ages when " I also thought I knew everything " now I am older and much wiser I have found that I did not but it took time before I realized this. My wish is to give the youth of today the Tools for finding their individual Niche in Life.

I have been writing all of my life from topics concerning why there aren't more hybrid animals like cat-octopuses to the more formidable discussion of the technological singularity and how it could affect our future.

I am one heck-of-a busy mom of three, full-time education student, and a humble employee for a local school district. I was raised here in Arizona where you can drive with two fingers in the Summer time. I have also worked at Motorola along with the other third of our population. Motorola is no longer a big employer here so I've had to move on to greater and more exciting things like college. Two more years of writing not-so-exciting reports on rain forests and how to teach bad kids and I'll have my Bachelor's degree. Yippee, I can't wait to bend and warp the minds our future state senators and presidents. In my free time, if there is any, I love to read and eat. Especially eat. I know, I know, it's not so good for me, but I only get to live once even it's for a short time. I hope to find a niche here writing and maybe someday, someone might actually read it!

I have always written journals and composed articles in my head about what is going on around me and, after some encouragement from my fianc©e, I am taking the plunge to put my writing where everyone can see it. I am passionate about finding ways to make things better whether it's my family, community, local and national politics, or the world at large. If you disagree with me - speak up! Build on my opinions or tear them down with your own. I believe the more intelligent, rational voices we have, the better we can make our lives and our future. It's all helpful as long as everyone plays nice.

I was raise by two very wonderful parents. Yes, they were flawed, made mistakes, had problems, were financially "poor", but "UBER RICH" with "LOVE"!!! Both are gone now, but they left behind, instilled in their children some very valuable and irreplaceable qualities, such as: A Proven & Strong Belief in "GOD", "Humor and Laughter", for you can't have one without the other! An eagerness & willingness to help others, closeness & importance of "FAMILY" & friends, truthfulness, honesty, interity, keeping one's word when given & not to give it easily. A deep sense of "responsibility", owning up to errors & mistakes & facing the consequences. Showing honor, dignity & respect to one's elders & others in positions of authority, obeying rules, laws & other such requirements regardless of how you might feel personally, with the only exception being that "God's laws & requirements of & for us superceeded man's. To change things legally not violently or destructively, to have fun, but know that what we did could & would affect our future. They taught not always with words, but I for one learned by watching them. My Dad would tell me "Don't be the one always talking, but 'watch & listen' - observe others in all kinds of situations & circumstances! See who they associate with, because that's who they really are!! My Mom was sweet, soft & mild spoken, but when she had to dish out punishment, she did. Dad?! Well, you did well not to cross him the wrong way. He wasn't 'physical' with us, he didn't have to be!!! He was our 'father' & expected & got our respect. He demanded, commanded, required & expected "Double Honor & Double Respect" for our Mother!!! When you were old enough, you were expect to help out with various responcibilities around the house, & eventually get a "JOB" to buy not only your own things, but to pay towards "Food & Board"! You also were taught to wash your

I am the mother of four children, who are now all adults. I have four grandchildren, who light up my life. My husband and I live on five acres with wonderful views. I believe that our outlook on life is what we make it. I know that approaching life with the right mindset and attitude makes a world of difference. I love to write. I am also an artist. I paint with pastels. Art is a large part of my life. Teenagers are my favorite people. The teenagers of today are very misunderstood and disrespected. They are, overall, a very intelligent group. They are artistic and adventurous. They are wonderful people. Not to mention '" they are our future. When I was raising my children, many people disagreed with some of the lessons I taught them. But as adults, the lessons they learned have been very beneficial to them. Those folks who disagreed, they now understand the path I was taking. I am a free spirit who can laugh at myself, who looks for the humor, who finds the magic in everyday life. I cannot imagine being mundane or in a rut. Why would anyone purposely do that to themselves? Find the magic in everyday life. Look for it. It is there. And learning how to see that magic will change your life!

  • Jakata Powe
My name is Jakata, most people and my students call me "Ms. Kata." I have been living in Georgia for about eight years now. I've also lived in Louisiana and Mississippi for a few years. By far, Georgia is the most attractive place that I've lived. As I mentioned earlier, I teach. I currently teach a private kindergarten program in north Georgia. I do love teaching, however the pay for teachers is not well. It often surprises me that educators of our future leaders and atheletes get paid so little. Aside from teaching, I am married - however we separated at the time. We have two beautiful daughters together. One is quickly approaching her teenage years while the other is in her "terrible-twos" stage. What were we thinking? Raising kids has been an exciting and challenging experience. As if my "plate wasn't full enough" I am also pursuing my Bachelor's of Education degree. This has been a "long road." It seems that due to financial obligations of my family and the lack of sufficient funds from work that I am only able to take on a few classes at a time. Often it is very frustrating to see others pass me by. I am 33 years old and when I see young women in their 20's with their financial lives in order and their careers altogether, admitidly I am a bit envious. I hope that in time all three major aspects of my life: work, family, and college will be equal in the fulfillment they offer me.

I am trying to summarize almost 50 years of life, education, experience and happenings in a short paragraph and it's just not working well... Lived in Romania half of my life, obtained a solid education and published poetry in several publications in Romania and former Yugoslavia. My highest achievement in poetry was 2-nd place on Balkan Poetry Contest in 1981. The reality of life pushed me away from poetry towards family life. My daughter was born in 1986 and my son was born in 1987. Struggling between career in Journalism, raising children and supporting my husband while he was studying medicine, I lost my identity for a while and lost my husband in the process (divorce). The temptation of completely changing my life course brought me to USA. New world, new challenges, new opportunities... And a new marriage... This time, I found in my husband an educator, a strong supporter and follower, a friend, a play mate, a great father figure for my children. And, when great minds and souls unite, we both became twice as strong, twice as smart and eager to create accomplishments of our own and overcome challenges that we never thought we could. In a short life span, while both working full time, we re-built a tear down home close to the beach in Seaside, Oregon, completely remodeled our home in Kirkland while building serious equity, sold high, purchased low in a less expensive area and became proud owners of 2 homes paid in full, with no mortgage, no credit cards and a lot of time to spend on our future adventures. Our children are away from home, in college, our 3 dogs are enjoying our company and we are spending a lot of time just planning what to do next...

I believe in America and am very concerned with our future. We live with a confusing set of standards which provides material for writing. I think writing activates people to think and is first steps to making this country sound.
