RELIGION

I was born in Richmond, Virginia, moved to rural Michigan at age nine and have been there off and on ever since. I briefly studied history and German at Michigan State University, and then finished my degree in history and religion at Liberty University in Virginia. I have published three historical fiction novels under the pen name Coolidge Bligh through CreateSpace, an Amazon subsidiary. You can peruse them on Amazon under Books - Coolidge Bligh. My first novel, a Civil War book called The Keystone (about Gettysburg), is also available on Amazon Kindle. My hobbies are reading, writing, and music. I exercise too on occasion. My favorite author is Charles Dickens, my favorite poet is T.S. Eliot, my favorite book is The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara, my favorite movie is The Right Stuff, and I dig good steak and salad equally. I am picky about both. I cheer for the Duke Blue Devils religiously. I live in the countryside, but am a suburban boy at heart. Peace.

Denise resides in Alabama with her husband, two teenaged daughters, and two dogs. She is currently attending college working on her Bachelors in Religion and Sociology and over the years has found an interest in research writing. Several months ago, Denise and her husband began an humanitarian ministry devoted to feeding the hungary. Although still a work in progress, their ministry has already feed needy families in their local area. Denise loves traveling, music, cooking, hiking, and spending quality family time.

Lesley lives in Portland with her boyfriend, Stephen, and her dog. She holds an undergraduate degree in religion from the University of Washington, as well as Master of Arts degrees in history and writing from Northwestern. Rick Amandan is a nuclear scientist, electronics engineer, and computer programmer who retired after working on several major national research projects. He is a veteran and father of four with significant life experience as an artist, journalist, and broadcast radio personality. His love of knowledge and learning, and for investigating the mysteries of the universe, makes him a true philosopher and his passion has always been to use his multiple talents and wide-ranging expertise to make the future a better place for us all. Throughout his life he has acted on that passion by persistently challenging the status quo and those who seek to perpetuate it just for the sake of sustaining their personal advantages and power over others. He doesn't like bullies of any rank or class. He is a staunch independent voter and a veteran volunteer for numerous progressive political campaigns and causes dating back to the 1960s. And he remains a citizen activist and vocal advocate for free speech, freedom of religion, the separation of church and state, clean and green energy, preserving the environment, space exploration, the right to bear arms, the rights of the poor, the elderly, the sick, and the disabled, and the right to be left alone.

I have several loves. My lifetime love has been religion. I've studied all of the world's religions as far back as I can remember. My earliest memory is meditating in the backyard when I was very young trying to "become one with everything." I am a convert to the Catholic faith, but I have practiced a number of other religions and I have a deep respect and love for all of them. I also love caring for the elderly. I have been a nursing assistant for 6 years. For 3 years, I cared for the severely handicapped. For the last 3 years, I have cared for the dying. I have been married recently. I love my husband. I am a fan of most kinds of literature, especially science fiction and horror. I love to learn new things.

Peter Merz, grew up in Southern California where he lived until 20004. In 2004 Peter relocated to Bangor, Maine where he currently resides. Peter majored in Religion and History at California Baptist University; majored in History and minored in Christian Studies at Campbellsville University. While at Campbellsville University, Peter served as a staff writer and Creative Writing Editor for the Campus Times. Peter also serves a moderator for several online Christian Songwriting Groups. Peter, is a prolific writer of lyrics, poetry, and short stories.

Evey Cohen is a graduate student, specializing in religion and English. She has taught college-level composition courses, and has been writing professionally since earning her Masters in 2008. Originally from the Midwest, she has spent the last 3 years on the East Coast, getting used to the crazy weather and cheering on the Red Sox.

I grew up in Garland, TX which is a suburb of Dallas. After my first year of high school my family moved to a small town called Caddo Mills. From the get-go I was raised to be a Christian and to use both my head and my heart. Past high school I went on to attend East Texas Baptist University to study Religion and discover how to apply my desire to help people and my love for theology. While attending ETBU I married Mia, my high-school sweetheart after three years of mostly long-distance dating. Karen W. Wyman is a writer, publisher and non-profit administrator. She holds a master's degree from University of California, Santa Barbara, and is ABD on her doctorate. Karen has taught at public and private elementary and secondary schools, and several universities. A published writer for more than two decades, Karen writes on topics of religion, psychology, travel, education and parenting. Tim Orr currently serves as adjunct instructor for one of the campuses of Indiana University where he teaches courses in Religious Theory, Comparative Religion, and American Religion. He holds three graduate degrees, one in education, one in religion, and one in divinity.

J.A. Griffin has had a diverse professional career, including Army Ranger, Deputy Sheriff, SWAT Team Leader, E-911 Director, Public Safety Director, and Homeland Security Program Manager. Attended over 2,000 hours of professional public safety training courses and is a certified law enforcement instructor and law enforcement firearms instructor. As a combat wounded veteran, he s a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. and the Disabled American Veterans. Degrees include A.A. Political Science, B.S. Organizational Management, and M.A. Religion/Leadership. Currently, he lives in rural southwest Missouri with his wife of eighteen years and with his teenage son.

Retired in 1995 with an impeccable image of honest, hardworking officer with deep concern for the poor. Had been associated with many philanthropic and social institutions. Was President Rajasthan Adult Education Association, Chief Commissioner Rajasthan Bharat Scouts and Guides. Received award 'Silver Elephant' for distinguished services in Scouts and Guides. Studied religious books, attended Vipassana meditation. First book 'I do not want Salvation' surprised most readers but was refreshing with message for practical life. Second book 'Beyond Body and Mind' was acclaimed as a landmark in interpretation of various traditions of Jain religion in a novel manner. Next book 'Self Awareness Through Meditation' in English and in Hindi published in 2007 in India and the USA. Book is a comparative study of Jain, Buddha, and Patanjali's systems of Meditation with modern thinkers. It is a significant contribution to the 'Science of Consciousness and Art of Living' and commends meditation for self awareness and living as 'free man'. Dr. L.M. Singhvi, former High Commissioner of India to UK, regards writings as readable, engaging, lucid, instructive, educative, enlightening and edifying.

Consider for a moment those children you've known who prefer books to people, daydreams to reality and creative projects to rest and relaxation; the kids whose implacable strangeness makes them an alien to their peers and a concern to their caregivers, whose naivety to the fanciful allows them to believe in even things they dreamed up themselves and whose giddy curiosity suggests to others a future in scholarship, science or the arts. I suppose I would best be described as what happens when such a child makes it to adulthood without forgetting themselves. In my first year of university I also came out as, forgive me the euphemism, "one of those boys who grows up to be a woman;" A long and intricate saga I assure you, but one very tedious to relate. Recently I graduated with a degree in "History, Classics and Religion with a Minor in Japanese," and as you might expect I have been unable to obtain any kind of employment despite of my being a Dean's List student with highest honours. For the moment I'm taking the opportunity that poverty affords me to work on my writing and art, keeping up the hope that one day I might be able to make a meager living off of my favorite preoccupations. I've had some luck, at least on the artistic side of things, but feel that my efforts to grow as a professional have been consistently thwarted by my social ineptitude.
