  • Rose Tomassi
Rose Tomassi is a senior at Ave Maria University in SW Florida. She is completing her BA in Literature and plans to continue her education with an MA in English. While her primary academic interest is literature, she spends her free time looking for creative ways to live a sustainable life in a university setting. Born and raised in Portland, OR, she is known to many of her AMU friends as somewhat of a hippie - recycling and reusing cardboard and paper products, storing things in mason jars rather than plastic, growing an indoor garden, buying safe and healthy cleaning supplies, and rebelling against her school's meal plan by cooking her own fresh and delicious meals in her dorm room. This year she plans to make her own Kombucha tea. She also likes to sew, collage, and type on an antique typewriter she picked up at a thrift store.

I am engaged in all sorts of crafting but I hold a deep appreciation for recycling and creating with decoupage to be the most fulfilling. My Buddies include papers, beads, shells, postage stamps, maps, pressed flowers, recycling, mixed media, vintage, clean design, art, jewelry, altered art, paint, wood, plastic, decoupage, reusing, upcycling, recycling. Give me trash and I can make something beautiful out of it.

  • Donna Kay
Donna Kay is an avid DIY home and garden enthusiast. She enjoys making a house feel beautiful, inviting and comfortable, but doing it all very inexpensively. As a long time homeowner, Donna has learned a thing or two about stretching a budget by tackling most of her own landscaping, home improvement and decorating projects. Donna Kay is artistic and happy with a paintbrush in hand, whether intended for canvas or walls. She believes in giving most household items a second chance by refurbishing with paint, paper or fabric. It keeps the creative juices flowing while saving money, reducing and reusing. Donna Kay took an early retirement and now works from home writing about the things she knows, loves and enjoys. She's inspired by the beauty of nature and believes it should be cherished and preserved. An avid pet lover, she also enjoys baking, cooking, health issues, photography, birds and wildlife. She resides in Tennessee with her husband, children and dogs.
  • Cheri Marks
Cheri Marks is a Christ-centered business woman, wife, mother and new grandmother. Balance between work and home priorities has been a constant pull and tug throughout her 30-plus year work life. In 2005, after 22 years in Human Resource Management, Cheri took her service mentality to the real estate arena. Today she enjoys a successful real estate career as an Executive Broker in Northwest Arkansas. As one of the youngest of the Boomer generation, Cheri has seen the gamut of change in the way that women are thought of and treated in the work environment. From her experiences, she has learned that being intentional, along with valuing others and yourself are standards that create true success in family life, friendships and business. Besides real estate and grand-parenting, Cheri takes seriously her support of mission and community programs for the least and marginalized. She finds her faith and focus strengthened by her commitment to time in Church, group Bible study and prayer. Downtime you might find her canoeing, fishing and hiking along the Buffalo or Kings Rivers with her husband, painting, gardening, flea marketing or spending time with family, friends and her two labrador retrievers and two rescue kitties. She plays a semi-mean game of Words with Friends, too.

Sometimes hobbies and personal goals have a way of becoming lifestyles we are passionate about. Health, efficiency, and minimalism are principles I started to embrace a few years ago as I set about living a better life. Everyday seems to be more amazing and full of possibilities than the day before it and I want to share my knowledge directly with the people that could benefit from it.
