Dr Carol LangloisI’m a trained counselor, researcher, higher education administrator of 16 years, educational consultant and soon to be author. During my training, I counseled hundreds of clients in one-on-one sessions as well as in group settings where I worked mainly with college freshman dealing with transitional and developmental issues on campus. My primary research focus is female self-esteem development among teens. My dissertation topic “The effects of single gender versus coeducational environments on the self-esteem development and academic competence of high school females” focused on 15 year old girls in the Bay Area where my research findings showed disturbingly low levels of self-esteem across the board. This staggering discovery has led me to further research this topic and write my first book called Girrl Up! Full E-steem Ahead. In addition, I run groups for non-profits interested in adding self-esteem training into their overall mission. In my last university postion, I serves as the Associate Provost and Dean at a prestigious all women's college in northern California. Presently, I host a blog (http://dr-carol.com) to offer practical advise and guidance on self-esteem issues as a tool for parents and teens. I also tweets articles, tips and blog posts related to self-esteem under the name SelfEsteemDean http://twitter.com/selfesteemdean. I can also be found on Facebook https://facebook.com/selfesteemcoach and Linkedin http://www.linkedin/in/drcarol.

Anna louderI grew up in northern California. My family may have been the most dysfunctional family that ever was, not that I want to enter any competitions at this point. In my thirty-some years I have experienced immense personal tragedy, abuse, death of people close to me, and destitution. I have battled depression, alcohol abuse, weight problems, debilitating anxiety and medical issues. I have struggled with love, self esteem, and feelings of worthlessness. In short, I'm a survivor. Now as a writer, a respiratory therapist, and a woman, I want to give back some of the knowledge that I've gained from life's tough lessons, and help other women cope with the stresses that we face in life. Not everyone experiences the same stressors, but we all experience them and some of us get hit harder than others. I want to reach out to other women and help them understand that it can be ok, that you're not alone no matter what you might think. In my life I've met a lot of incredible women, some living, some dead. I am sharing my experiences as well as theirs and I do it with more than a touch of humor because that's my style. Come visit my website at www.onlifesmatters.com. This is my blog,( currently under construction), that covers topics women face in life, humorous takes on life experiences and advice for self help, self empowerment, and self esteem.
Edward FrasierCareer: I am a Retired Information Technology Manager that worked for almost 25 years for a Fortune 500 Company. Before this I worked a few years at a couple of other jobs including the Air Force/Department of Defense as a civilian in a computer programmer role, and computer technician at the University where I received my BS degree. Interests/Likes: I enjoy all types of technology including PCs, Server, Networking, Communications, Open Source/Linux and the Web/Internet. I also like various forms of music and especially traveling to attend Smooth Jazz concerts during the Spring and Summer. I like to working on home improvement projects and seeing the finished results. My dislikes are few, but include: people who do not respect/value others or their differences. About Me: I am generally optimistic and believe that you can learn something from everyone if you take the time to listen. My values: - Respect for individuality and defense of dignity and self-esteem. - Responsibility for myself, my actions and how I can help build up others, society and the environment. - Recognition of others as well as my own abilities. My mission & goals: 1) Always do the best I can do to improve in life and work, help others in need, and leave things better than I found them. 2) Do what I say I will do, and honestly state what I cannot or will not do. 3) Take care of myself so that I can live and be best that I can be - mentally, physically and to live without regret.
Holistic Recovery CoachIf there is one thing I have learned in my years as a recovery coach, it is this: I cannot fix you; I cannot save you! I can, however, give you information, guide you and make suggestions. You decide whether to accept, reject or apply the information. This is YOUR life. Send queries, comments and feedback to recoverycorner@gmail.com. My role is not to come over to your house every day and give you a shower but I can tell you where the soap is, what to do with it, why you need it and the precautions to take so you do not slip and fall and hurt yourself, etc. Getting clean and staying clean is YOUR responsibility; mine is to provide you with the information you require to learn how to live life in a new way, with more peace, harmony and joy. When I talk about recovery from addictions, I mean addictive thought patterns that create addictive feelings which produce addictive behaviors. When you become aware of your thought process, you can learn how to change it to get different results. And what you recover is your SELF - your self-esteem, self-worth, self-love, self-reliance and self-confidence, etc. If that sounds like something you want to pursue, then read my column regularly and apply the information. Practice the techniques often. Repeat frequently and watch your life change!
