Though I call Texas home, I've lived as a bit of a nomad. It took until I was 25, pregnant, and (literally) barefoot in the kitchen for me to find my path. I've worked extensively in consumer lending & finance (sub-prime, servicing, & originations) then went on to earn a Business degree. During college, I fell in love with the web and as I got closer to graduation; I began freelancing. I've done everything from blogging to web development to social media strategies. My day job is a support role on the technical side of internet, particularly Yahoo! related products. Free time is spent studying, learning, working, and the occasional bit of fun. Generally, fun is checking out what is in theaters, reading a good book, surfing the interwebs, finding the latest Omaha hotspot, or enjoying my unique blend of family and friends. I grew up in Milton, Massachusetts, which is south of Boston. I attended Milton Academy from Kindergarten all the way through to twelfth grade. From there I went on to Worcester Polytechnic Institute to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering. My professional work ensued with a few computer software teams. I developed specialties in Release Engineering, and programming graphic user interfaces with dynamically changing interfaces. An unexpected recurrence of a benign jaw tumor condition led me to leave my job as Principle Software Engineer and stay at home during the year long multi-stage surgical resection and reconstruction process. With the surgeries complete and healing happening quickly, I became pregnant with our son. I have been home with our son ever since he was born. I have worked hard to advocate for our son: a series of subtle developmental delays may have recently been explained by a finding that his pancreas does not produce pancreatic amylase to digest starches. My present role is to be at home with my son, do extensive research to learn more about his health condition, and lead the effort to find him the right combination of digestive enzymes and vitamins that will treat the symptoms of his health condition.
