I grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. I graduated from high school in 1979 and immediately enlisted in the United States Air force. I served our country until 1983. Upon my honorable discharge, I successfully built my own construction and remodeling business until my life dramatically changed in 2008. At this time I separated from my ex-wife after 25 years of marriage. This was based upon very bad counseling from an unlicensed church-based counselor. I was through this experience that I enrolled in college to finish my degree and begin my writing career. I have authored two books, A Heart Held Ransomed with Teila Tankersley and Picking up the Pieces. In my first book, A Heart Held Ransomed, I have attempted to describe my unbelievable ordeal, which ripped apart my family. My family and I were victims of an unlicensed counselor and his beliefs into the world of Repressed Memory Therapy (RMT). My battle continues still to this day. Over the years local headlines have covered the story in Oregon, but no one really knew the damage this ordeal had left on me until now. In my latest book, Picking up the pieces, I talk about my experiences and about my relationship with Christ. I attempt to describe how my faith comforted me in my time of need. My writing was very therapeutic and has brought me great strength in my healing process from a great time of betrayal. It has brought me encouragement to move forward and face my fears. Out of the ashes, I stepped up and began putting the pieces of my life back together. I want to encourage others in the same way. Currently I have received my bachelors’ degree in Health Care Administration with plans of obtaining my MBA and a Masters degree in Professional Counseling working with marriage and family therapy.

I've lived on the gulf coast in Panama City, FL since June of 2000. My family moved here after my senior year in high school to attend to a family illness. In the beginning, it was difficult to leave my friends in Newnan, GA, but after a few months I adapted and now I could never imagine living anywhere else. The coast is so beautiful. The water-color sunsets, crystal blue water, and sugar white sands are just breath-taking. I love to spend the day just basking in the awe of it. Panama City is the perfect mesh of urban amenities and small town charm. My husband is a master welder and sheet metal mechanic. We have a modest condo which we share with our two cats and a parakeet. We don't have any children together, but he has an adult daughter, who he adores, from a previous marriage. She and her husband live in Lakeland, FL. In my spare time I enjoy reading, writing, gardening, saltwater fishing, golfing, nature walks, cooking, crafting, pottery, art, and spending time with my cats, Fluffy and Bubby and my bird, Skittles. I try to be a thoughtful, compassionate person with a positive attitude. My philosophy is to use things and love people, not use people and love things. Life is too short for greed, pettiness, and anger.

At 13 years old, I had two dreams; to become a writer and to move to California. At 19 years old, I had met my husband, said goobye to my dreams and hello to being a wife and a mother. After doing legal transcription for almost 20 years, my hands had enough. Pounding on a keyboard every day was unacceptable behavior to my hands. That is when my dream came back to call on me. This time, I did not deter. I was determined to fulfill my calling. After receiving an honors certificate in creative writing and taking a grammar refresher course, I began to dip my toes in the water of freelance writing. Thereafter, I dove in head first, even though there was no lifeguard on duty. I have contributed to various online vehciles to suit their Search Engine Optimization needs as well as contributing poetry to a well-known greeting card company. Having raised three children as a single parent and having to parent my parents, I view these struggles as blessings in disguise. I am stronger for my experiences, and so is my writing. I am determined to pursue my creative writing as well as Christian writing. When life deters, determination prevails!
  • Todd Clarke
I've lived in Washington, chiefly the Western metro areas for my entire life. I was born and raised in Auburn from 1990 to 2010, until I moved out of my home to attend Pacific Lutheran University, a school decorated in notoriety. Yes, the rumors are true in the sense that rain happens here very often but on a day like today, where the sun is peaking out from time to time, it's a very fresh, new, and relaxing image of North America. As for my career plans, I can't tell you the exact date I became enveloped in the world of health and fitness, but when I picked up my first weight in March of 2006, it's one of this once in a lifetime moments where all of a sudden the mind reaches an inner clarity that at least I thought never knew existed. I'm not the strongest, most athletic, or most agile person in this galaxy, but I work hard to achieve everything I have, socially, mentally, physically, financially, and, among them, academically. My intended major(s) are health & fitness management and pre-athletic training with minors in both health and wellness and personal training. After my undergraduate here, I plan on attending graduate school, somewhere local, but seeing as though I'm a sophomore at this institution I don't see the need to fill my head with those decisions until later on in my career. This blog will also be a progress tracker for how I'm doing in my major and also I'm here to give advice, as after all, this is what I'll likely be doing for the rest of my life. I was born to John and Rose Clarke on October 12th, 1990. I'm not one for adventure, for public speaking, and for being a pristine leader, but that's a likely cause from upbringing. I have no problem establishing conversation with my family, my girlfriend, or my friends in general. I think working out is building some confidence in order to face my fears.

Being from a small town in Northeastern Wisconsin has it perks. It's the people that enchant me and their stories. My story among them is one of challenge as I battled bone cancer a decade ago and was victorious. The challenge I was left with in the form of huge medical debt, a disintegrating marriage, a career in the toilet, and a small baby in arms. But victory comes in many forms and now at the age of 42 life looks a bit different yet somewhat still the same. I live with my divorced husband out of economic necessity. I struggle to find viable work with a huge gap in my employment history due to illness and the commitment I made to stay home and raise my son. But regardless of all the circumstance I am happy -- truly happy. I don't feel poor. I don't act poor. I don't feel sad. Nor do I act sad. What I do is look into the eyes of everyday and simply say -- Welcome. Welcome to all I can make of this day. And welcome to the truth of who I am and what I have to say. I have much to say and there is no doubt in my mind that as you read this something will awaken in you and wonder what it would be like to share your story with me. And I too wonder what it would be like to know your story and share it with others. We all have a story and those stories are the threads of great writing. My job is to weave them into the social bravery we all must experience so you and I can better understand that we are not alone.

I am a Former Technology Executive who left Corporate America to pursue my passion of motivating women to stop making excuses for not living the lives they want (and the desire to never miss another of my daughter's field trips.) Through the "No Excuses Movement" I utilize my love of sports, music, documentaries, and every day life to motivate and inspire women to reach "their" definition of success. When I left my very lucrative corporate career many people thought I had lost my mind. How dare I believe in myself, how dare I think outside of the box, and how dare I finally decide to stop making excuses for not living the life I wanted? I decided to get out of my own way and in the span of a few short years I have created a company that exceeded any salary I ever made and most importantly I was finally doing what I wanted to do with my life! I am the Excuse Annihilator, Motivational Speaker, Vocalist, Author, and Technology Leader. I am also the CEO of Soul Support and Knowledge Brokers. Soul Support is the home of the No Excuses Movement and Knowledge Brokers is a technology recruiting and strategic diversity talent acquisition firm. One of my proudest moments was being selected as alternate speaker for the late Civil Rights Activist, Coretta Scott King for annual diversity celebration and consistently representing women in the field of technology. Most recently I was selected to serve as a Keynote Speaker for Microsoft Corporation’s DigiGirlz Technology Camp. My book Always Believe came about when my daughter began to exhibit some of the same self-esteem issues I exhibited when I was younger. At the age of nine, I was 5’6 and wore a size 10-shoe, and was constantly told that I was “cute to be so dark.” My experience taught me that the only way my daughter would accept herself would be from within. Always Believe is a book, 18-page workbook, and music CD, designed to empower girls to love themselves, believe in themselves, embrace their u
  • Sunnie Day
I was raised in the military and spent most of my adult life associated with the military life, traveling to many places stateside and overseas. Having raised four beautiful children, they have now graced me with four amazing grandchildren. I enrolled in nursing school rather late in life, but after 18 years of a wonderful career in nursing, I retired this year. There was a time in my life, over 30 years ago, that I loved to write but somehow it was put on the back burner until this past year. This past year has been a whirlwind as I began to put my pen to page. The words began to flow from me like a fast moving river, bringing with it many new adventures that I never dreamed. I published my first children’s book called Sunnie and her Peeps, when the inspiration came as for the first time, I became a full time back yard farmer, raising six chickens. I then found myself publishing a few eBooks and have a new book on the horizon called When Delilah Smiles that will be coming out soon. I enjoy my new found love as a creative writer and find my days are filled with many inspirations to draw from. My greatest hope is that my writing inspires and encourages others. I am so happy to be a part of the Yahoo community of talented writers.
  • Andrew Johnson
Having spent his entire life in a small town, Andrew provides a unique perspective on many topics and a larger knowledge of specific areas of small town life. At 18 he is just beginning his writing career and has already been published by the popular hockey news website, The Hockey Writers. Andrew didn't get to this point in life easily though, growing up with a tumultuous-at-best family life, primarily caused by the alcohol addiction of his now estranged father. Despite facing problems at home, Andrew managed to do well in elementary and middle school. This was highlighted by winning 2 geography bees and finally by being the valedictorian of his 8th grade graduating class. High school didn't hold a very friendly welcome for him though, and after struggling with severe anxiety disorders and frequent panic attacks, he was forced to drop out and begin teaching himself from home. Still in the middle of this process and still daily struggling with anxiety related problems, he understands the world from an angle that many don't. With the adversity he's faced in just a short 18 years, Andrew knows a lot about things that others may never face and can offer insight into subjects with a far better understanding than many others. Andrew also spent 4 years playing inline hockey as a child and has grown up around hockey his entire life. Being from Michigan, he's a devoted Red Wings fan and someone with a vast knowledge of the game. Andrew's passion for writing is strong, and his knowledge, abilities, and fervor grow every day.
  • The Paralegal
Cynthia M. Jama-Baxter ("Cyn-Jam") is the sole proprietor of My Paralegal Now. As a Paralegal, Cyn-Jam does a fair amount of legal research and writing. However, her real passion lies in the writing she does in her free time. A self-described Liberal Progressive, Cyn-Jam often writes articles, essays, short stories and poems set against the socio-political issues of the day. Cyn-Jam also shares that her social and political attitudes are as much a part of her character as is her sense of humor and life-long love of all things feathered and furred. Having survived a rather difficult childhood and troubled adolescence, Cyn-Jam escaped to New York City when she was only 19 years old, toting her one year old son along with her. After settling in Astoria, Queens, Cyn-Jam began a successful career in retail management. Over the next 15 years, Cyn-Jam worked in both the Chelsea and SoHo areas of NY City. It was there, amidst a marketplace of culture and free expression, where Cyn-Jam's socio-political liberal/progressive roots really took hold.
  • Annette Calhoun
Registered Nurse, Political Observer I was born in 1964 in the country of West Germany. A German Citizen, raised by German grandparents during the Cold War, I became aware of many political and ethical issues at an early age. My hometown is Fulda, located 30 miles west of the region where the once infamous Iron Curtain once stood guard, separating the Free from the Imprisoned. As a child I learned about many endeavors, my grandfather undertook to resist the Hitler Regime; and as an adult I built on this knowledge by making sure to learn more about the Jewish community, its culture, traditions and believe system. The Fulda Gap '" as the area around my birthplace is known in military circles was the one place, where ambush of Communistic Forces from the USSR was expected at any given moment. Due to this fact, there was a heavy presence of American Soldiers, which consequently resulted in many German / American marriages. So, I too, came to the United States as an Immigrant Military Wife, became an American Citizen by naturalization and perused the American Dream, complete with children, a career ladder, and a house with a white picket fence. I am a Registered Nurse, specializing in Childbirth and Obstetrics; and I am proud to report that over the years I have help many lives enter into this world safely. Time and life events eventually turned an at first happy marriage, into despair, resulting in a quick divorce, followed by a rebound relationship that brought about an entirely new set of problems. Now facing the challenges of being re-married and totally in love with a man who is a recovering drug abuser and alcoholic, I am concentrating on getting through one day at a time with the energy and strength afforded to me by the grace of God. In the meantime I am keeping focused on my wonderful profession as a Registered Nurse, keeping my finger on the pulse of life, observing current events and keeping watchful over the political affairs everywhere.

  • Mully B
Writer's Profile: I was academically trained in the field of engineering with just Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Despite coming from a less wealthy family (we manage to just have a basic 3 meals a day), I spent most of my school holidays working part-time trying to earn extra pocket money to support my studies. I started working during the holidays since the age of 15. I've tried that all sorts of jobs; pump-attendant, general worker, factory worker, store assistant, machine operator, etc. -- . You name it I've tried some of it. My working life started as an Engineering Assistant before promoting to an Asst Engineer, Engineer, Senior Engineer/Project Leaders. After 12 years in the Engineering, I took a challenge to switch to a more people-orientate environment, finance industry. I was required to do sales, promoting financial products. I made my way up earning credentials such as Million-Dollar Club, Premier Agents '" Gold, Superstar Club, etc. I also qualified for conventions to South Korea, New York, New Zealand, Paris and many more (lost count of it) from my sales production. I stayed in finance industry for 14 years. In my mid-forties, things happen and I made a career changed. I am now an educator in a school who teaches the weaker students in the subject of Mathematics & Science. To share my knowledge and experience in those unforgetful events in life, I decided to write as a free-lance writer. I hope my sharing about life could be a learning journey for others.
  • Lynetta Gean
Lets see, I am a 38 year mother of four. I have been with the love of my life for 18 years. I have always been very passionate about family. I would rather be with my family than anywhere else, ever. I was born and raised in Van Buren, Arkansas. I grew up a very shy isecure child. I spent a lot of time hiding behind my mothers skirt. I was also raised in a very spiritual enviroment that totally impacted a lot of my beliefs, values and even fueled my insecurities. The only things I ever really dreamed of having was a true love and wonderful, beautiful children. I had my first son when I was only 18. I had two more boys by the time I was 28. I was sure there would be no more, then I felt that longing for a daughter, someone I could be close to like I am with my own mother. Two weeks before my 33rd birthday, on Mothers day, I gave birthday to my beautiful baby girl. I spent years trying to find an occupation that makes me happy. The only place I find true satisfaction is in being a wife and a mother. This year has been a really hard one. My husband lost his job of eighteen years. Our country is in the middle of a major recession. I still haven't found a truly fulfilling career. My husband decided to open his own business, where I know work forty hours or more a week. I clean cars all day every day. It was fun at first, being with my husband, but it is getting harder for my all the time. People dont realize what hard work it is to clean a car after a family of six has terrorized the interior. My son gave me the idea of writing. I love to read so why could I not write something worth reading. Well, here I am giving it a shot. I am really excited, because this is something I have secretly dreamed of more than once.
  • Richard Nidever
Born in long beach, California my family moved to the Sierras on my tenth birthday. We lived in the state of Nevada for the remainder of my pre-adult, adult life. I served six years in the U.S. Coast Gruard, loving every minute of it; traveling to many places I would never otherwise visit. Many months and years have passed since then, and I continue to maintane my love for writing. I am presently composing a novel based on my tour of 14 months living on a light house with three other men. With no where to go, it made for an unusual story, to say the least. I am a happily married man with three children still to young to be on their own. I hope that one day, I can make writing my career.

  • Steve Way
Ever since I was in diapers, I have had a passion for movies. My parents noticed it right from the start, they said. Apparently when I was a year old, I knew how to work a VCR (for the young crowd, VCR's were our DVD/Blu-Ray players back in the day). When I was little, obviously my main focuses on cinema were all the films from Disney or Nickelodeon, until my father started expanded my viewings of more mature films. Ever since then, I had a love for all kinds of genres of film, including the bad ones. Don't get me wrong, there are some movies out there that I absolutely despise (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Empire), but I can also appreciate what most critics would find awful (Grown Ups). As you can probably tell, I love it when it's Oscar season, that's like my superbowl. Yes, I do all the prediction games and etc. Sometimes I agree with whom they picked as winners, but also sometimes I think the Acadamy must have been on 'shrooms or something if they thought that individual should have won an award. So, needless to say, Cinema is my life, and sometime in the near future, I hope to make a film myself (and win an oscar too, but I doubt that). I am currently serving in the United States Army as a truck driver. I have been in this profession for almost 3 years now, it's had it's ups and downs, but that's how it is in everyday life, right? Currently I'm serving my third year in Afghanistan. As soon as I come home, I'll have about three years left on my contract. Once that's up, I'm off to pursue a career in the film industry. So wish me luck!

  • Robert Richmond
Robert Richmond Addict, Author, Businessman and Boomer Addict Addiction is a much bigger issue than I ever imagined. Denial of the disease can lead to many adverse results, including jail, hospitalization and death. The cornerstone for any recovery from addiction is acceptance. The acceptance part of the recovery usually comes from the addict hitting rock bottom. Also referred to as bottoming out, this is the point at which all hope for dealing with the addiction is lost. The bottom may differ for individual addicts. It may be loss of job, financial ruin, legal problems, medical issues and loss of family and friends. In some unfortunate cases it may be all of these. In my particular case it was financial ruin and the threat of loss of family. My preferred addiction was gambling. I say preferred because it is very common for people to have multiple addictions. I am certain that I do. Recovery is an ongoing process that continues in some fashion for the rest of your life. It is not uncommon to have a relapse into gambling (or any other addiction). Gamblers refer to a relapse as a "slip." I have had more than my share of slips in the recovery process. The struggle continues for me. I man a crisis hotline for people with gambling problems. Those stories and the people encountered in the gamblers anonymous are the subject of book I am writing Author As an author I hope to be a regular yahoo contributor while I am in the process of writing two books. Businessman As a businessman I was fortunate to have a number of high level positions in both finance and operations. My last position was that of a financial operations consultant. My specialties were fixing financial messes and leading project teams. The project teams were formed to install complex systems such as ERP. It also created cultural change within a company. My addictions hampered my business career. Boomer In 2011 I will turn 65, along with an estimated 8,000 other people per day. A r

I am currently a second year pharmacy student at Midwestern University - Chicago College of Pharmacy in Downers Grove, IL. I started working in a pharmacy when I was 18 years old and loved it so much that it is now my career and passion. I will have my Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2013. After school I plan on also becoming a certified diabetes educator so that I can help patients, as well as their family and friends, who are diabetic. I will be specially qualified for this kind of work because not only is it a focus of mine in my education, but I also am a type I diabetic. I was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus when I was 16 years old and know first hand the personal struggles associated with the disease. I hope to be able to use my clinical knowledge as well as personal experience to motivate other people to manage their disease while living a fulfilling and balanced life. Currently I live with my boyfriend (Brad) and our pomeranian (Lily) and maine coon cat (Charlotte) in Lisle, IL, a suburb of Chicago. When I'm not busy studying and working, these three keep me very busy. We work hard to make ends meet but don't let being broke college students get in the way of having fun. We especially enjoy food - either cooking it ourselves or finding new restaurants to explore different kinds of food. We are in a very transitional point in our lives and look forward to the comfort of one day being able to buy a home and have kids.

Towards the end of my career I focused on Farm Estate planning and was quite successful in the business. One of the things that I learned from my career was the more people help the more successful you'll be. On the internet you gain the ability to connect with thousands and thousands of people every day. I use various methods to get folks to connect to my website and take a look at the benefits of our business. Some are new fangled ideas and some are so old fashioned that you'd think I came off the Ark. They all work to have people take a look....some will love this business opportunity and some won't stay past 30 seconds. I've learned from my past experience that if someone is interested they will tell me...I've never been a "heavy" closer, it just isn't my nature to try and push people into something they don't want. Here is a great place if you want to work online like I do. Work Less, Make More Money, Do What You Love.

I've never had to sum up my life in 2000 characters or less? This is going to be interesting, I hope! OK, here goes! I was born in 1967 to the best parents in the world! I miss them both every day! I am the youngest of three. My sister is the oldest and my brother is in the middle. I have a beautiful wife, a beautiful daughter, and one on the way; she'll be here in June. I am a career technology and customer service professional. I realized pretty early in life that I was drawn to helping people to help themselves. So, naturally I thought I was going to grow to become a world-renowned psychiatrist. Then I realized that I like to take everything apart to learn how things work; everything that is, except for the human body so psychiatry was out. Next year, 2011, will be my 20th year in the fields of computer technology and customer service. I have been a bench technician, a help desk manager, and a lot of other job titles in between. Like most geeks I have some technology-related interests like Star Trek (original, Next Generation, Enterprise, Voyager, and no, I have not been to any of the conventions nor do I own a star fleet uniform), chess, video gaming (if only I had the time), and music. My daughter and I are currently exploring her talents with the guitar. I just recently discovered my love for writing. I have begun several books which I hope to finish in the near future. I am also trying my hand at writing a screenplay. I am excited about the potential of a sight such as this! Thanks for visiting! Hope to see you again! OK. That wasn't so bad! And I think I have about 400 characters to spare. I have to get out more! Ha!

My writing life is simple. In the morning I walk to the library to write. The library's the safest place in the city for me, not because I'm surrounded by books, but because it's so quiet. While there I have to meet one of three goals: first, write three-thousand, one hundred words. When I read that Norman Mailer put himself on a "three-thousand word-a-day diet" at the beginning of his career, and that Stephen King did as well, I decided to tack on another hundred for myself. I want to best my elders. Second, finish a long story or, third, begin and finish a short one. The latter is what I did this morning. The story was about a telemarketer who discovers his girlfriend is better than he thought she was. A simple idea. Not to sound pretentious, but there's a line from Shakespeare that has stuck with me. It's from Sonnet 66 and goes: "Tired with all these, for restful death I cry, / As to behold desert a beggar born -- And a simple truth miscall'd simplicity." Well, I feel the same way, and my writing reflects that preference for a simple, unadorned style, which doesn't shirk on meaningfulness.
