I'm a very happy person. I happen to be a lawyer; have been since 1996. I've mostly been a litigator, both plaintiff and defense. That means I've spent a lot of time in court representing both sides. What sorts of law have I practiced? I've been a contracts lawyer, almost a bond lawyer (okay, a litigator dealing with bond issues), a government lawyer, an animal welfare lawyer, a schools lawyer, a criminal lawyer (but not very often), a divorce lawyer, a personal injury lawyer, and a workers comp lawyer. I've worked for a very small firm, a fairly big firm, a local government, and for myself (representing people, companies, and schools). Working for myself, I've started out solo, successfully grown to have a fair size staff and several lawyers doing my work, and now I have the opportunity to work toward simplifying and going solo again. My goal is to have a balanced, happy life, and to help people along the path so that they can do the same.

I was born in Canada in 1970 and moved to California when I was about 13 years old. I have lived in Southern California for most of my life. I enjoy cooking and writing about food, wine tasting and collecting, watching football and figure skating, working out, snowboarding, training for half marathons, supporting animal rescue organizations and traveling to obscure places in the United States (Miami, Arizona being the most recent foray).
