I am a married mother of two. I have been married for 7 years and have a 7 year old son and 5 year old daughter. Both of my children have epilepsy, as did my husband as a child. I myself have moderate asthma. I am constantly in the process of trying to the road to opening a non-profit program to benefit the young disabled in my community. I have worked as a CNA just short of 10 years and have helped close family members and clients as they transition out of this life into the next. I am active in my non-denominational christian church and participate in any volonteer oportunity I can find. Currently I am home schooling my two children because of their epilepsy and learning delays, but still work part time outside the home. Previously both of my children attended a typical brick and mortar school. I am actively seeking more education and trying to attain resources to attend nursing school, as a RN license with my bachelors degree in health administration will get me where I want to be. Currently I have been in college a total of 7 1/2 years.

I'm probably the only Puerto Rican descendant born in Fairfax Virginia. My mother was born in Bronx New York and my father was born in Harlem New York. My grand parents are a mess of mixed race descendants who were predominantly Puerto Rican. I graduated from high school, worked, then straight to marriage and motherhood at the tender age of 21. After 7 years of hellish solitude I divorced and ended pretty much homeless with nothing but 2 kids on my back. My mother decided to pick us up and take us under her wing. After unsuccessfully looking for work for almost half a year, my smile won a department manager at the Men's section of a department store and I was finally hired. A month after met another promising young man, got married....again, and had two more bundles of absolute happiness (not). My oldest son Giovanni, 12, is an honor roll student whom seems to have a really big mouth. My daughter Jailene, 10, is a soon to be honor roll student whom is very artistic and creative. Edwin J. or aka "Boo", 5, is in kindergarten, has Asthma, and is very active and articulate but he hates school. And last but not least...Aaliyah G. or aka "Bombie, Mince, Pince, Ali", 2 1/2, she is just a roaring lion all day (literally). I have no further studies thanks to my marriages and kids. I have also been laid off in March 19, 2009, two weeks before giving Cesarean birth to my last child (I've had all 4 this way). It's been almost 3 years and I still can't seem to get hired. Not even in fast food. I am also very artistic and creative. I love creating with my hands. I know how to knit and crochet. I'm a good drawer. I have done some tattooing as practice and they have all come out well. I want to apprentice at a shop but I'm not confident enough so I have only managed to ask and they are supposedly waiting for my portfolio which I really didn't have so I'm just procrastinating....and this is probably the reason why I've done nothing for 32 years. I was pretty much on my own my whole

  • Ritchie Mayes
I was born in Indio, California, a small town located 30 miles from the desert town of Palms Springs, California, in the year 1954; the same year when Plessey was overturned by the Supreme Court. Therefore, I entered into the world before the civil rights area in America. According to my families history, my mother, and two aunts relocated to the heavily military town of San Diego, California. Like many African American families, we survived on the welfare system until I graduated from Lincoln Sr. high school in 1972. Following graduation, I attempted to engage academia at UCSD, however, the experience proved unsuccessful for me. I then served two years in Berlin, German as a tanker during the cold war. After returning to America, I successfully completed my AA degree in Selected Studies from San Diego City College, where I majored in photography. Following my exit from community college, I spent the next 30 years working as a printer. A life altering change occurred after my wife of 28 years, died from complications of Asthma on Christmas eve 2007. Instead of allowing myself to become mired in sadness and despair, I completed my first novel "The Rebel" and earned my BA degree in English literature from Grand Canyon University.
  • Suzanne Amara
I'm a 45 year old married mother of three---two boys, ages 16 and 13, and a girl, 6. I (mostly) love being a mother, and my children have led me to many new interests and concerns---education, childrens' media, health issues such as asthma, special needs parenting (my daughter is autistic), thrifty living (we've lived on mostly one income since my older son was born, and believe me, it's caused a need for thrift!), family travel and so many more fun and not so fun parenting topics. I try to find time for my own hobbies---avid reading, Scrabble and other word games and (unskillful) knitting!
  • Heidit0505
I grew up in the suburbs of Westchester New York and left New york at the age of twenty one to join the Air Force. I was in search of a new life as the life I was living in New york was not fullfulling. The Air Force changed my life in many ways, but the most important way my life changed was when I was diagnosed with asthma. Apparently a chemical I was using for my job in the Air Force caused lung damage thereby causing symptoms of asthma. In 1994 I was discharged from the Air Force with a 10% disability from asthma. Sixteen years later I am the single mother of a five year beautiful little girl and anxious to provide a quality life for her while living a quality life myself. Asthma has in many ways been a barrier in my pursuit of a quality lifestyle, that is at least until I realized the connection between gluten and asthma. I have benefited greatly from a gluten free lifestyle and now I am on a quest to educate other asthma sufferers and give them the tools to live a healthy quality lifestyle without the inconvience of a condition known as asthma.

  • Ada McGuinn
I was born in Pasadena, California in 1960. From 1979 to 2009 I worked in California and Texas as a professional legal assistant, and later transitioned my work home where I now work full time editing, researching and transcribing network and breaking news, b-roll, movie and television production audio and video. I also am training in voice over. My published opinion letters and articles have made headlines in California and Texas. I feel that my numerous and diverse life experiences are bizarre and pertinent enough to share. Look for topics in the entertainment, legal and governmental industry; familial issues such as epilepsy, midlife crisis, asthma, and working with special needs issues. My favorite pass time is cooking and artistic endeavors.
