Elaine HinesGrowing up I had a keen interest in both animals and astronomy. I was happiest reading books about those subjects in the local library. I read lots of books about lots of things and eventually decided there would be no better place to have a career than in a library. I have worked in libraries since high school when I volunteered at the local public library. I have also worked at academic libraries and currently work as a specialist in technical services at a University Law Library. I still have a passion for reading and learning, especially when it comes to astronomy, science and animals. I have never been able to turn down an opportunity to rescue an animal in my neighborhood and have taken in about a dozen or so homeless cats in the 5 years I've lived at my current residence, finding them homes when I could. In the summer I frequent star parties and in the winter any clear night is reserved for taking my telescope out to my favorite viewing spot at a nearby nature preserve. All of nature is my passion.
