I have been a NY State Licensed Audiologist for 19 years. I have a private practice audiology/hearing aid dispensing office called Family Hearing Center in Fishkill, NY.

I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and I must admit that northern Italy captured a little piece of my heart. I typically prefer to focus on positive aspects of the topics I write about and have directed marketing for several businesses. I even sequenced DNA as a lab tech long ago while attending N.C. State University. I currently live with my husband in the beautiful front range of Colorado, near Boulder. Survivor, Inflammatory Breast Cancer since 2011. Networking is a natural extension of who I am and what I do. I am currently freelancing, producing The Audio Scoop, a newsletter for Flatirons Audiology, blogging about healthy lifestyles and writing my first novel.

I was raised in Durham, New Hampshire, a small university town in the southeast corner of the state. My father teaches audiology at the university and my mother teaches kindergarten at one of the local public schools nearby. From an early age my parents would read and sing to me, interacting with me very much on the level of sound and theatrical gesture. These experiences fostered in me a deep love and appreciation for the sounds of words and the drama and richness they are capable of creating. I first began writing seriously at the age of eight with the school publication of "Super Worm," which followed the swashbuckling adventures of an ordinary earthworm endowed with superworman strength. Since that first taste of immersed writing I have never looked back. I have three years of experience at the university level in English and Spanish, as well as a myriad of interesting life experiences such as taking on the role of a live-in nanny for a child with special needs for a year, spending a spontaneous, crazy night of waiting tables in the very center of Madrid, Spain, and going on an eastern seaboard road trip with my pregnant wife for five months before ultimately settling in Asheville, NC and manifesting our dream home!

I'm currently eighteen years old, living in the same town I've grown up in. I've been a wallflower most of my life, which makes me able to comment and write on a plethora of topics. I am a lover of theater and literature, as well. Currently, I'm attending Carl Sandburg College, with plans to transfer after two years to Western University, and earn a masters degree in audiology and speech pathology.

I recently left a professional career (10 years) in the audiology and hearing health to pursue my passions. Most of my adult life has been spent pursuing academic endeavors. My focus has not shifted to raising great children and creative interests.

I am an avid hobbyist writer in the moments when I am not a scientist. I am a full time Audiologist with a long science education in the distant past. I write and learn when I can, when the energies of the mind are there. Scientific writings are drab; informative but prosaic. Fiction is the pen escaping it's shackles, escapism on a ruled sheet. I run a dichotomy. Both sides serve their purpose.

Jacob is a newly graduate from New Mexico State University of 2011. He enjoys writing for fun and baking new desserts. One interesting thing about him is that he is deaf, but is able to hear with the assistance of a cochlear implant. Despite growing up with an disability, he has managed to overcome his obstacles such as his speech and hearing to succeed in the "hearing" world. He enjoys educating others about the deaf culture. He hopes to have you enjoy what he has to write and share.

I have recently graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences with a minor in Psychology. I am presently employed as an Early Childhood Educator. My hobbies include web design and multimedia and I have been motorcycling daily for the past four years.

I will be graduating with my Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology in January 2010. The career I am pursuing deals with the assessment and treatment of individuals of all ages who have any communication difficulties/disorders.

I have been freelancing for five years at various websites including my own.
