My name is Kimberly and I have dark blond hair and blue eyes. I prefer Kimberly to Kim and I get complimented on my smile all the time, so maybe I'll post a picture on here. I have 3 bunnies named Dakota, Bun Bun Kate, and Jack Jack, and they are the loves of my life. I like to read, though I haven't done much reading as of late. Music is my life, I think I wouldn't be able to live without music. I am 27 and I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder in 2006. Since then I've been struggling with finding the right combination of medicine but I'm more stable now than I was back then. Anyway, I'll have to get back to finishing this later.

First off, and looming largest in my life, I live with a severe mental illness. I have what is designated as "High functioning schizoaffective disorder, Bipolar type". What that means is that I have a combination of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, but that I seem pretty normal from the outside. I have ended up knowing a lot about many mental health topics, as I have been diagnosed with, and therefore studied, almost every mental illness in the book before finally being correctly diagnosed. I do not work outside the home (it is very rare for folks with my disorder to work full time), but I try to be the best wife that I can to my amazing and tolerant husband, and a good cushion and food giver for my 2 cats. I also live with insulin dependent type 2 diabetes, which has been caused by taking an anti psychotic that tends to cause weight gain and diabetes for 6 years. I no longer take that drug, but am on a quest for the perfect medicine, one that doesn't cause weight gain or exacerbate my diabetes, but doesn't cost an arm and a leg every month. Wish me luck! :-)

I cracked up - for the first time - on June 4, 1988, three weeks short of completing my Masters degree in Psychology. Some would say I had a nervous breakdown. The psych ward doctors said it was major depression. I say that I saw just how evil my sin is in the eyes of God and it scared the hell out of me. And, 20 years later, it resulted in the publication of my first book - "BLESSED WITH BIPOLAR." I cracked up, broke down, and de-pressed. I cobbled together some mad reality and blew a fuse. I despaired, decompensated, detached, and derailed. I lost my mind, never to be the same again. Thanks be to God! Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ! One year later, during my second tour of duty as a psych ward inpatient, I completed my Masters degree in Psychology, taking my final class on three hour passes from the hospital. I woke up in the psych ward, went to class at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, and returned to the hospital for the rest of the day – and night. Now that’s bipolar! Psych grad-student by day. Psych ward patient by night. I have bipolar disorder. And it is a blessing. In addition to helping me earn a masters in psychology, bipolar also helped me to earn a football scholarship to Georgia Tech and a full-tuition, merit scholarship to Law School. It ain't all bad!

Diagnosed with Bipolar I Disorder in 1995, I left the accounting profession in 2000 to begin a new life's journey: to somehow help erase the social stigma of mental illness, particularly Bipolar Disorder. I have spent the last 11 years reading bipolar related books, researching psychiatric journals, magazine articles, bipolar blogs, message boards, online groups, along with developing relationships "in real life" with others afflicted with this disorder. I have learned much and have seen several common threads throughout their lives. I hope to share some of my experience, strength, hope & knowledge with others touched by this baffling illness.

I am a PTSD ( Post Tramatic Disorder), Anxiety and Bipolar II (Manic Depressive Disorder) fighter. I witnessed a mass shooting and attempt rape as a small child that was at the hands of my father while I watched from the back seat of the car strapped in my car seat., then at the age 15 was raped by a classmate in my own home, in my won bed. This blog is about my fight to get to where I can function and not have to worry that trip to the store or the trip to the doctors office. Planning your day around your medication and naps.

  • Sheryl A. Cook - Russett
Hey Sheryl here, Welcome to my Page... I am a Self Motivated Freelance Writer, I am currently writing my first book on "Truth" when it comes to "Love vs. Sex" - that focuses on how us Guys vs. Girls two totally different species - just can't figure each other out... My Guy & Girl Friends alike come to me for Sexual Advice, through our conversations I began writing. I am experienced in all areas of Relationships, Sexual Needs and honestly believe "I" thru my book will be able to shed some insight on Healthier Relationships... I was born & raised in Livermore, CA. on a small farm where Sex was an everyday thing. If you were not compared to the Livestock that was used for breeding consider yourself Lucky ! My Father would use quotes such as: "if you were an Animal you would be Good Breeding Stock cause you have Great Hips". So in other words "You Gotta Big Ass". Now on the other hand - Love and Compassion was extremely foreign, we were taught not to "Love" reason being everything we raised was for slaughter - No Pets, No Love. I suffer from Bipolar Disorder and recently I have "Come Out of the Closet" so to speak. I would love to be able to attend seminars in hopes to become a speaker one day so that i can share my story with others who also suffer from this misunderstood Disorder.
