  • Carol Richie
I was born in Potosi, Missouri. I have one sister and three brothers. Our family moved from Potosi to St. Louis in 1969. I was educated within the St. Louis Public School System where I learned Spanish, music, art, and the general classes. I played clarinet in our high school band, and discovered I could sing. I performed in our Senior Class talent show and received a standing ovation. ( I would continue singing professionally for the next 25 years). After graduating from Soldan High in 1973, I attended a few semesters at St. Louis Community Colleges while working for White Castle restaurant. I sold used cars for a short time afterward, worked for a collection debt agency after that, then I worked for the Federal Government for 22 years. I retired in 2003. I have been married for 30 years and we have 1 daughter who is a registered nurse in our area. We live in the suburbs of St. Louis and are spiritually grounded. I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

  • Jeffrey Bathe
Jeffrey Bathe has two passions, education and sports. He is a life-long educator, having served as a faculty and administrator the past fifteen years. He is passionate about community colleges, online instruction, and policy issues related to their success. He is also a passionate sports fan in the Midwest, growing up on Illini sports and that has continued until today. He also has an interest in the mid-majors as they are the underdogs and get forgotten at times. Researching articles is a passion, so articles tend to lean towards lists showcasing the best, worst, and the unknown.
  • Paul A. Hummel, Ed.D.
My name is Paul Hummel, and learning has been a life-long experience for me. I began a 40-year quest in 1965, by which I have earned three college degrees: '¢Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Illinois Institute of Technology); '¢Master's Degree in Engineering Management (Illinois Institute of Technology);and '¢Doctor of Education in Instructional Technology.(Northern Illinois University). In 1996, I made a significant, if not radical, career change. I left the manufacturing industry that had been good to me for so long. There had been promotions, patents, and good pay. But there is more to life than all that. I assumed my first of four full-time college positions. Since January, 2006, I have served as an academic dean at a Midwestern community college. My passion is college education! More specifically, I love to work with and help both college students and the faculty members who teach them. With years of industry quality improvement experience behind me, my desire is to contribute to the improvement of educational practices at colleges and universities. In 2004, I began a research project which culminated in my doctoral dissertation, "An Explanation of Continuous Quality Improvement Practices by College Faculty." Since early in my industrial career, I have enjoyed teaching, speaking and writing, I have taught a variety of college courses, which include an undergraduate course on quality and a graduate course on managerial statistics and quality. I have also taught freshman courses in business math and statistics. However, what I enjoyed most was the 3 credit-hour reading and study skills course I taught at my previous college. I hope readers enjoy my articles! You can e-mail me at HummelPaul@aol.com . You can also learn more about me on LinkedIn.

I am a 25 year old wife and mother with many different experiences in life that allow me to write on a wide variety of subjects. I currently help run a family business in Blue Ridge, GA but live in Cleveland, TN. I have been writing from home in my spare time for 5 years now and have many articles published in various types of literature, as well as manuscripts in the works for publishing. I love to write and to share my experiences with others in the hope to help them in their lives. I have experience in health, business, pets, farming, computers, parenting, and many other subjects. I grew up on a farm where I learned about horses, cattle, and many other animals and trained with a local Farrier. I then went on to work with a veterinarian in Augusta, GA where I gained experience in animal nutrition and had on the job training as a veterinarian technician and pet groomer. I attended the health program in High School where I obtained my CNA, First Responder, and Child Nutrition certifications. I also did many different clinical terms at multiple doctors' offices through the Health Occupations of America at the High school. I worked in pediatrics, surgery, radiology, and obstetric practices throughout High school with clinical training in each field. I then went on to attend Augusta State University and take a few medical courses at the Medical College of GA. After deciding I wanted more time with my family, I transferred out of Augusta State and went on to attend a year of criminal justice school and then a year of business/architecture/art school. I have classes that amount to 244 hours of college credit hours, in 4 different colleges, but due to my varied interest still have not gotten a degree to show for all of my experience, but continue to take classes as I can to get closer to my goal. I am also an experienced photographer and have worked as one for 6 years now. My family owns a photography and wedding store where we also sell retail items and flora
