Erin CooperErin Cooper s unique view on the world stems from growing up in a divorced/lesbian household, teenage years that slightly resembled Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas except set in the capital of Kansas, dropping out of high school at 17 but going on to complete her Masters of Science degree in Criminology by the time she was 26, working in a state prison with men who believed they are criminal masterminds, and experiencing military life first hand with her personal partner in crime while pregnant with her first child. As a little girl growing up in Kansas, Erin would have never imagined this life for herself – she was set on being a veterinarian until she realized animals actually bleed during surgery, they don t ooze white fluffy stuffing. Erin has seen, heard, and experienced things in her 29 short years that many never will, or want to in some cases. In fact, some of the things she has experienced just seem completely unreal – like being stuck in the basement with a former client (aka parolee) repeatedly asking her for $5 for cigarettes while the tornado sirens were blaring and visions of Wizard of Oz floated around in her head. Visions of Wizard of Oz occasionally still float through her head despite not being in Kansas anymore. Living the military life with her partner led her to Las Vegas – the front row of America s freak show. It also left her no longer in the criminal justice field because that often requires working for the government, and well quite frankly, the government is too broke to hire anyone. Erin is now focusing on her writing. Her writing often includes delving into the flaws and fixes (yes, they exist) for the broken criminal justice system, discussing her daily bouts of road rage and desire for a BB gun attached to her car, or divulging her secret fears of death by phlebotomist. Long story. Don t worry, she ll share. Censorship is not her forte.

David HoneywellOnline Community Correspondent for the Northern Echo, Columnist for Unlock, The National Organisation for Reformed Offenders and Author. I started writing for magazines in 1996 and have continued writing ever since for newspapers, on-line and most recently a book. I hold a bachelor’s degree in criminology and a masters in social research methods. My articles have been published in local and regional newspapers and various magazines. In 2009, I launched my own community newspaper, Coastal View, to give local businesses their own medium. I have worked on the university circuit as a guest speaker to criminology students. I educated myself from inside prison where I gained my first ever qualification and started freelance writing for women's magazines. I have published my autobiography called, Never Ending Circles in 2011. In the book, I talk about my childhood and brief army career, leading up to the time I spent in prison. And about two very different prison cultures I experienced from the 'slop out' era to my second time in prison, by which time, things had changed drastically. I also talk openly about my crimes and my life struggle with depression and alcohol abuse, all of which contributed to my wayward life and how I eventually turned it all around using education and writing. I hope my book will offer encouragement to others who have had similar experiences and now wish to turn their lives around and hopefully my story of crime, carrying knives and alcohol abuse, will help deter some young people from falling into the same trap of self- destruction as I did. After I was released from prison, I went to university where I graduated in 2001 and again in 2003 after which I taught undergraduate criminology students towards the City & Guilds adult teaching certificate. I also continued shaping my journalism skills, by writing for the university’s student newspaper. Then in 2005, my first article for a regional newspaper appeared in t
