DACHSHUNDS

My name is Laurie. I live in an alartment in Nashville, TN with my two miniature dachshunds, Bridget and Macey. I work for the public school district as a substitute teacher, and have two part time jobs-- one with a pet food company, and the other- coaching baton twirling.

I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I ve worked as a corrections officer, court bailiff, my dad s paralegal, fugitive recovery agent, and group home social worker. In 1989 I was commissioned as an Air Force Officer. I served for 17 years all over the US, specializing in clinical social work, psychotherapy, group therapy, domestic violence prevention and treatment, substance abuse treatment and prevention. After a line-of-duty injury, I was medically discharged. My husband, Tristan, was a USAF physician for 20 years. When he retired, we settled in beautiful Montana where he practices correctional medicine at the state prison, and I became a full-time freelance writer. My business, Rocky Mountain Way Freelance Writing, allows me to work from home since I m a disabled veteran. I won the National Book Award in 2008 for my book on school bullying, and a Silver Medal for my follow-up book on workplace bullying. I ve also published a book on how to survive prison, numerous academic journal articles and textbook chapters, and on-line educational courses in criminal justice and substance abuse. My husband and I live with 12 mini-Dachshunds and a very yackety and opinionated African Grey parrot.

I have been a blogger for over 2 years, maintaining a book review blog and a personal interest blog. In 2011, I read and reviewed 200 book, and post my reviews on Amazon as well. I am in the Amazon Vine reviewer program, and am a top 1000 Amazon reviewer. I am a social media proponent, proficient in Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest as a means of marketing. I own two miniature dachshunds and have an affinity for anything dachshund related. Work experiences range from social work, to higher education, to local tourism. I have lived in the greater Pittsburgh area for 7 years.

born in pensacola, fl and lived there until i moved to arizona to work for the government. have always had a passion for writing but never had an outlet for my interest. i especially love to cook, sample and learn about food and different food preparation techniques. I also love movies, book and anything to do with entertainment. I am not married and have no children, but my two dachshunds.
