The Garden district is located North of Lusaka Town Center and is home to over 7,000 people. At best, it can be could an unplanned settlement, and at worse, it could be called a slum. While the culture is as rich as the mango and avocado trees growing throughout the town, the people are poor and sparsely employed. As you approach the vicinity, loud music blares from the many nightclubs and bars, ...the most popular form of recreation and entertainment. What's worse is that the children seem follow in the footsteps of the adults. Many fall victim to the dangerous vices of alcohol and drug abuse. A lot of children leave their homes and end up living on the streets from as young as 8 years old. These unfortunate circumstances stem mainly from a lack of productive infrastructure and boredom. Since its inception in 2005, Youth for Sport, Restoration, and Rehabilitation (YOFOSO) has sought to give the children not only a safe place to grow and thrive, but also productive programmes to engage the children. YOFOSO now has their own building that serves as a social center for the youth, complete with a library, internet cafe, and a business center. YOFOSO's most recent success stories include Samuel Mwale, who starred in the film "Mwansa the Great". YOFOSO also has a soccer team, the Young Gunners, which recently made it to the semi-finals in the Lusaka Tournament.

I am into Search Engine Optimization .I am a exfelon that has been out for 10 years .I am hoping one day that men have the right to atleast have access to Hud Housing .I have created a bill called the Fathers And Men That Are Exfelons Bill .I am hoping that Congress will consider allowing felons access to housing after 10 to 20 years depending on our crimes .I feel it is time to show a little compassion adn mercy to the 65 million men with a felony record and to those trying to be productive. I express myself in crazy ways online sometimes I look back and laugh at myself but I find venting online is good . I seek to better myself and educate myself more. I feel that education is what most of us ex-felons need . With our low wages and laws it is no longer fair to force millions with records deeper into grinding poverty dispair and drug abuse .I have not been a victim of those circumstances for long but I have seen then struggle and experienced some .I seek what most people seek , to just be happy . Isn't that what most people want.

  • Rhonda Blain
Wow......what to tell you about myself? Let's see, I am a 50 something single woman living in the great state of Colorado since New Year's Day of 2008. I grew up in and around Dallas. I have had more than my share of life's hard lessons and hard knocks. I knew by the time I was in my late teens that I would be messed up for life if I didn't take control of my own life and work thru the issues that life had dealt me. My road to self-development was bumpy to say the least and included some behavior that I am not proud of, but hey, -- .. all of that has contributed to who I am today. Today, I love me, I love my life and I have experienced personal peace in my life for the last 11 years. The 21st century has seen me finally come into my own. Let me list for you just a few of the life events I have personally dealt with, some more successfully than others, -- -- . but all with grace, dignity and strength. I have lived thru incest, alcoholism in my birth family, suicide attempts, abortion, spousal drug addiction and alcoholism, emotional and physical abuse, caregiver for 3 family members with terminal illnesses and 1 family member with chronic illness, divorce, re-marriage, children and step-children, and widowhood among other things. The flip side to that is that I am a stronger, healthier person now than I was in my 20s-30s and I have had amazing success in my career choices. I have mentored many people professionally and personally and I have always been THE person that everyone comes to for advice. I have been blessed with tons of friends and family that love, respect and admire me and in turn, I feel honored to have the best friends and family on the planet! If any of my experience and expertise can help anyone and save a few counter-productive steps, I will have accomplished my goal. Here's hoping that you are the person that gains some insight and has a simpler, more peaceful walk in this life by reading about where I have been!

I am a kind, caring and compassionate person. I am very interested in situations I consider unjust when it comes to treatment of those diagnosed with mental illness, substance abuse, etc. I feel the need to advocate on their behalf. I am particularly interested in women and criminology. I wish I could afford to quit my job and go volunteer in central Appalachia helping the families that live in severe poverty by offering them the skills they need to break this cycle. I am not afraid of a challenge and will fight for what I believe is right. I have a no nonsense attitude yet I have a great sense of humor. I live in Maine and run a seafood distibution center for a major on line seafood company.I love the NY Giants!!! I am starting to experiment with metal sculpting and have almost completed my first project.
