Jane Ingram Allen, originally from the USA and now living in Taiwan is a sculptor/installation artist and hand papermaker who is also an independent curator and arts writer. Jane first came to Taiwan in January 2004 with a 6-month research grant as a Fulbright Scholar artist in residence. Her Fulbright grant was renewed for another year with sponsorship by Taiwan's National Endowment for Culture and Art, and Jane completed her Fulbright grant project '..."Made in Taiwan' in July 2005. Since that time Jane has continued her work in Taiwan as an independent artist doing projects with many organizations in Taiwan and other countries. From 2006 - 2009 Jane was the curator for an annual environmental art exhibition, Guandu International Outdoor Sculpture Festival at Guandu Nature Park in Taipei, Taiwan. In 2010 Jane initiated international environmental sculpture exhibitions at Cheng Long Wetlands in Yunlin County, Taiwan, and at Ping Ling Farm in Taipei County, Taiwan. Jane writes regularly about art and travel for USA art magazines and other publications. Her book MADE IN TAIWAN '" AN AMERICAN PAPERMAKING ARTIST'S JOURNEY AROUND TAIWAN was published in English and Chinese in December 2005. Jane has received awards to do artist in residency projects in the USA, the Philippines, Japan, Nepal, Brazil, China, Taiwan and Bali, Indonesia, among others. In 2008 she had a show featuring her artworks about environmental issues relating to water at Tenri Gallery, NYC, and in 2009 another exhibition about water issues was held at Boston Sculptors Gallery, Boston, MA. Other recent exhibitions include participation as an invited artist in the 2009 Incheon International Women Artists' Exhibition in Incheon, South Korea; a solo exhibition at the American Institute in Taiwan Gallery in June 2009; and an exhibition at the Minories Art Gallery, Colchester, England in September 2010. Writing is an art form. It is an exquisite opportunity to paint a picture within the constraints of an interpretative system of lines, dashes, swirls and dots. It is also a sport. It is competitive, with a set of rules upon which one might call upon fouls. Though the winners may be subjective, the game is all the same. Yet writing is recognized mostly as a tool. What a tool! An art, a sport, and a practical utility all in one? It's no wonder that it draws such a vast crowd. My writing has mostly served the purpose of small group entertainment on a fictional basis. It's time to expand my horizons and introduce the world to the overlooked.

There once was a formerly bright-eyed, bushy-tailed individual who finally decided to shake off the self-induced career coma that she had succumbed to for over 10 years. Recognizing that it was high time to pursue a field that gave her passion rather than merely just mortgage payment security, she searched her soul long and hard, realizing that she had long been an eager greenie and knowledge hound who could inspire people through her words to make a positive impact on the world. Conveniently, this skill offered her immense fulfillment and actually made her spirit smile, so with reckless abandon, she launched herself headfirst into the wild, wacky world of online freelance writing.
