  • Female Over 50
Someone has to ask me my age before I realize that I am a female over 50. I am looking for a job, so people remind me every day that I am not as young as I feel. Listen, studies say that baby boomers are better educated and have a better work ethic than generations that follow. We are Older, Better and Wiser! Southern born, southern bred and when I die, I'm southern dead. Someone has to ask me my age before I realize that I am a female over 50. Listen, studies say that baby boomers are better educated and have a better work ethic than generations that follow. We are Older, Better and Wiser!

  • Femme-O-Nomics
Femme-O-nomics is a networking and content portal for professional women. We are currently in the first phase of our development where our focus is providing compelling content that tackles the issues faced by professional woman, including the demands of the business world and the complexities of modern families. Our next phase is a peer-to-peer mobile networking application. Femme-O-Nomics is run by Leah Eichler, an award-winning editor and celebrated columnist. Her weekly Women@Work column for the Globe and Mail takes a fresh look at issues women in Canada and the United States face in the modern day workplace, from lack of representation at the Board of Directors level to the phenomenon of female breadwinners. She offers new takes on ideas such as the “mommy track” and “work-life balance”. Increasingly, Ms. Eichler is turning her expertise to focus on the global rise of the female worker, and their impact on the global economy, from the explosion of female entrepreneurs in North America to the disruptive impact successful women have in developing countries and emerging economies.
  • David Solomon
After an early career in recruitment and executive search, I moved into broader human resources, business management, business consulting, coaching and mentoring. This is where I have spent the last 12 years. The businesses I’ve worked with over 25 years have included start-ups through to major Australian and multinational businesses in a broad variety of industries (though I now prefer to work with small and medium businesses). I work extensively one-to-one with female business owners and entrepreneurs to help them achieve their objectives. As a Business Performance Strategist I help them and their companies perform better. This means building a successful business where success is defined by your financial, lifestyle and other goals and aspirations, rather than what society says they “should” be. I also have a parallel life in the performing arts and am a singer and actor (I don’t dance!). I have also worked on the production side of things.

I'm a 50-something female who is trying to be proud of being her age though I have moments of frustration over knowing that I've had plenty of time to perfect myself and yet I'm still struggling to accept myself, to find peace, to let go, to hold on, to live well, to laugh often, and to love much. I'm a survivor. Not a survivor of any deadly disease or illness as many are, but a survivor of a dysfunctional family, of dysfunctional marriages, of a dysfunctional career, but mostly a survivor of my own bad habits. Just when I think I've learned a valuable lesson from a past experience, I go and do something crazy again. I read somewhere that "pain is a signal to grow, not to suffer." I'm sorry I can't give credit to who said that. I would if I could, I just don't know. So, I go on, each day trying to remind myself to be kind, to be gentle, to be patient with myself. I try to tell myself to be as tolerant of my imperfections as I would of those around me. I'm not always so hard on myself. Of course, there are many moments when I am happy to be who I am, to be where I am, and to be what I am. I'd like to have accomplished as much in my next 50 years as I've accomplished in my last 50 years.
