Laura is an eighteen-year-old aspiring fashion journalist/blogger/Olympic athlete living in Portland, Oregon. She moved to Portland two years ago after the Olympic Gold-medal fencing coach suggested that with his coaching she might make the British Olympic team. Ever since then she has been balancing maintaining straight As via self-taught home studying with her full-time fencing training and her passion for writing, blogging, and fashion. After she concludes her studies in June 2010 she will be deferring her offer and academic scholarship to Penn State University for a year while she trains, competes, and tries to gain experience in her career field of journalism.

A third-generation New Yorker, Kathy Zucker worked in corporate finance and healthcare marketing before becoming pregnant with her first child. Kathy now works from home as a principal in three corporations. I have a lot of varied interests, from chess and tennis to FREDDIE MERCURY/ QUEEN and world affairs, fencing, psychology, reading, and writing, art and local politics. My work history encompasses teaching in the Boston Public School System, a ten year stint at the American Red Cross, proofreading for a couple of local newspapers, palliative care for family members. I was a tennis umpire in the early 80's travelling all around the New England area to do the top USTA professional tournaments. Now I am involved with the Historical Society in my town, while in my college days I had travelled through Europe. staying with relatives in Hungary most of the time. After becoming a mother, I became kind of a homebody to raise my children.

Kids are growing up faster than ever before, but they also have many more opportunities to learn anything they like. Chances are you have a local dance studio offering dance classes, soccer or football club or other sports club, even horsebackriding, tennis, swimming, cooking, fencing, yoga and the list goes on. From the local YMCA and after school programs, to many community based businesses offering their services to kids and families, there is not longer any excuse for kids to be active and enjoy their childhood!

I destroy sterotypes. I like Every Type of music except country. I am ADDICTED to cinema. I have three parakeets. I'm the only Black one in my highschool Drama program and Fencing team. I Love sushi. I love music. I love life.

Working in nursing homes & assisted living facilities has been such a joy. Even though this type of work can be stressful at times with all the required paperwork, the people (residents) are what make it so rewarding! At the end of the day I have a satisfaction of knowing that I helped to brighten many lives. This feeling is priceless. One area that I find myself drawn towards is working with those that have Alzheimer's disease. Making things similar but more failure free has worked well in my small group activities. Giving a different twist on an old activity can help someone collect an answer to a group game. State Capitals is one of my favorite games. I say the State Capital city name and ask the group what state it is located in. This really helps to make it more of a failure free activity. What fun to see someone have a smile of satisfaction on their face after being able to answer a question. I enjoy creating activities with a purpose and those that maintain dignity. In my personal life, I am trying to live a more simple life. Wanting to get back to the basics and be able to provide for my family. After recently buying a small farm, I find myself learning many things about gardening, raising chickens, canning, dehydrating food, cold storage underground (root cellar), solar & wind energy, fencing, planting fruit trees, pruning grape vines, bee keeping and much more. Living in these changing times has brought out the cross between Laura Ingalls and Martha Stewart in me. While I am way out of my comfort zone, it is a place that is exciting to try new things. Just trying to be able to take care of my family by growing food on our own property. Not as easy as it sounds...I have so much more to learn! Life is good.
