  • Mat Thorne
Hi! My name's Mat. I'm seventeen years old, I live in the UK and I am currently in my lower sixth year of college studying at one of the finest colleges in Somerset. At college I am studying mathematics, further mathematics, physics, Spanish and music technology and next year I have decided to carry all of these subjects on through to the upper sixth. After college I have the ambition to go to Exeter University where I will aim to complete degree in Mathematics for three years and on completion of the degree I will aspire to join the British Army as a Graduate Officer in the infantry regiment, The Rifles. Personally, I believe I have wide variety of hobbies and interests. I have been playing piano since I was a young child and I have recently passed my ‘Grade five Jazz Piano’ exam (of which grade 5 is the highest grade that there is) as well as having passed a number ‘Contemporary Piano’ exams. In addition to playing the piano, I have also been learning Electric Guitar for about two years. As well as Music, I am also interested in the British Army which is why I have to ambition to join them full time on completion of university. However, at the moment I am currently signed up with the Territorial Army and the Army Cadet Force, where I have achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. I have been signed up to the TA for the past year now and have been in the ACF for five years. During my time in the ACF I have completed various courses ranging from first aid to shooting, and have also partaken in volunteer work. Another hobby I believe myself to have is that I am good at a variety of sports, nevertheless, my favourite sport will always be rock climbing. I have been rock climbing at various different sites in the UK and attend a weekly rock climbing club where we are taught new skills that will improve our capabilities ‘on the rock’. Anyway, that’s it from me at the moment! Take care all!
  • Jillian Myers
Owner of Healthy Paws in Los Angeles and PetTech-certified pet first aid, CPR & care instructor focused on "improving the quality of pets' lives, one pet owner at a time." My goal is to put pet health care knowledge back in the hands of pet owners and pet care professionals, encouraging them to take a proactive stance in the care of their (and their client's) pets. As a volunteer for Los Angeles Animal Services, I see firsthand the mistreatment and neglect that many of our city's animal suffer at the hands of uneducated owners. Through my company's animal rescue fundraising program, I'm looking to partner with rescue groups and other animal-related organizations to raise awareness of these issues as well as much needed funds.
  • Katie Brower
My name is Katie Brower. I was born in California and moved to Utah when I was very young. I grew up in Highland, Utah, a small town that borders American Fork, Utah. (Half way between Provo and Salt Lake) I gained a love of reading in second grade and still enjoy it today. I attended an Accelerated Learning Lab in 5th and 6th grade that allowed me to skip Pre-algebra and go straight to Algebra in 7th grade. I also attended the Gifted and Talented Program in 7th, 8th, and 9th grade. In 9th grade I was in a program my school called "biology block." (One period of biology and a period split between first aid and wilderness science.) This program allowed me to be the first responder for the junior high, and through that experience I decided I wanted to be a doctor when I grew up. I tested for my Temporary Dan black belt in Omega Martial Arts the fall of my freshman year, and my 1st Dan the fall of my sophomore year. I marched for the American Fork High School Marching Band my junior and senior years, marched with them in the Macy's Day parade, and won the Western Regional Bands of America competition. By taking general high school requirements like Driver's Ed., P.E., health, etc. online and through the alternative high school, and taking AP classes and Distance Education classes from the local university (Utah Valley University) I finished my "pre-Professional Associates of Science" degree, from the above mentioned school, the summer after I graduated from high school and received the New-Century Scholarship. In the process of finishing up my associates degree I got my EMT license and once again affirmed to myself that I want to be a doctor. I started attending Brigham Young University (a private university operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of which I am happily a member) the fall after I graduated from high school, where I started my pre-med classes and worked on the grounds crew. And, I also tested for my 2nd Dan black belt th
