As a writer, nurse, educator, integrative health consultant and curious traveler, I have been involved with a natural, holistic lifestyle for over 35 years. It all began with a lively family and organic farm filled with dogs, horses, pigs, chickens, children, herbs, flowers and laughter. Passionately devoted to the well-being of the individual and the collective, I am an advocate of a holistic approach to wellness. In the search to understand the mysteries of life, I have written articles for a variety of magazines on travel, native healing, natural health and education, along with several newsletters and web site copy. A lifelong learner and an enthusiastic reader, writer and world traveler, my life-paths have led me to amazing experiences in shamanistic healing, Tai Chi and energy work, and herbalism. Around 2002, I decided to try my hand at running a bed and breakfast on the Maine coast, applying my environmental and organic philosophies to transform it into an eco-friendly inn. Loving the coast, making mouth-watering breakfasts and meeting folks from all over the world, life was good until family illness caused a change of plan, and a return to nursing education. Currently a practicing RN, nursing educator and integrative health consultant, I am completing my thesis on natural health towards an MA in Holistic Wellness, and am working toward Healing Touch Practitioner certification. No longer living on the coast or on a farm, but in the Blue Ridge Mountains, my herb gardens are smaller, but still fragrant and productive. I am a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the American Holistic Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, and the Herb Society of America.
