  • Marie Feliciano
In college, my favorite subject was writing and it is of no surprise to me that writing has remained important in my life. I have combined over 20 years experience in the medical field with writing on medical topics. My background has been as manager in three different medical practices. Each practice added to my knowledge base. The first was Internal Medicine, the second Family Practice and the third was Cardiology. Medical assisting was also expected of me and it added invaluable hands on experience. The physicians I was employed by were always happy to answer questions and I was not afraid to ask. I currently work as a subcontractor for a medical transcription firm which helps me to keep current with diseases and conditions along with new medications that have cleared FDA approval. Lastly, in my immediate family, I have vast experience with many disease, conditions and illnesses that only add to that which I can confidently write on, including two rare conditions. Someone gave me advice to write on what you know. I did not know what that would be but when I looked over articles I had written, I saw the pattern of medical writing clearly. It has simply been part of me for so long I did not recognize what was before my eyes.

I've written numerous first-person pieces about my experiences as a patient, for Associated Content and other venues. I've also contributed research-based articles for AC on a wide range of conditions, from heart disease to anorexia. When I'm not writing articles or visiting the doctor, I work as a freelance editor, assisting writers of memoir, personal essays, and fiction.
