Born and raised in England until the age of 14. Attended Taunton college, Somerset with my elder brother John. Going home for the school holidays to Torquay, Devon and later Bracknell, Berks where my parents and 4 sisters lived in Hotels that my parents manged. My Father and Brother immigrated to Canada in 1947. Then my mother and 2 younger sister and I made the trip by boat and train in 1948, finally setting up house in Vancouver. My 2 elder sister remained in England. I joined the Canadian Air Force in 1951 and for 5 years as a Radar Technician spending time in the USA and Germany along with several different locations in Canada. After an honorable discharge 1956 at which time the family was living in Calgary from where I naturally gravitated to the Oil Fields. This turned out to be a very fortunate choice. Worked in 16 different countries usually treading where no man has trod before. Starting as as an exploration field obsever and the last 40 of a 48 year career as field crew manager and operations supervisor. Most of the work was done in the Amazon Jungle, Brasil,Peru,Columbia and Bolivia. Am now living in retirement and doing a little consulting now and then in Rio de Janeiro with my Brazillian wife of 48 years.
