Ann GarrettI am a stay at home mom to two boys and from the Great Lakes State of Michigan. In my spare time I love to write, sew, blog and make crafts with my kids.
Jane KrasleyI am a baby boomer child of the 50s and enjoy looking back at all those things that made us happy then: the simple toys, games that needed no props, soda fountains, 45s, etc. Oh how the innocence changed in the 60s when we all kind of dabbled in various forms of hippiness . And what a change from one decade to the next. When I was a kid of about 8 or 9 in the 50s I wrote my first illustrated book and really believed this is what I was born to do in life. Along came the 60s and the teenage years - I met my future husband (of 43 years!) when I was 15.. I was 19 and knew nothing when we got married...moved right from my parents house to live with him and had it all figured out: I skipped college because I was sure I would make a living selling my (awful) paintings. That didn t actually happen. But I did get involved in a partnership with a crafts consignment shop and then later opened up one of my own. After spending most of my 20s starving, I finally enrolled in college. I was one of those annoying older students that college freshman love to hate. But, surprisingly, I passed for one of them for at least the first year. During the time I was busy earning my degree, I worked as a photographer in the ad dept for a major department store in our area. I fell in love with the camera, but I never got over my love of art and writing. After getting my degree, I landed a job as a publicist for an art museum - perfect meld of my two loves. But as anyone who has ever worked for a non-profit can tell you, long hours and short salary are a given. I left the museum to open up a mail order record business, my other love being music. I operated this business out of my home and free-lanced as a photographer and writer during the 80s. After 20+ years of marriage, something was missing. Turns out it was the light of my life, a daughter born when I was 42! I sold the record business and have worked the last 20 years as a photographer.

Tiffany LandisPersonal hardships including a real understanding of the poor, education and medical information I found the need in many cases to learn as much as I could in order to help my family. This has led to a good understanding of the medical field including terminology and information. How to handle situations, especially when your poor and from an extremely small community. Education is a fundamental, and my children go from one end of the spectrum to the other. I have learned valuable lessons on how to handle both sides, from the parenting to communicating with the school. I also have learned how to deal with all of it in stride. I have been extremely poor most of my life, so the knowledge has based out of necessity. I have been married and subsequently divorced, currently in an ongoing successful relationship, and the mother of two children. My daughter is 15 and my son is eight, plus I have extra children I tend to acquire them, they all call me mom. You know the kid down the street, your daughter's best friend, or all of your friend's kids who know you as Aunt not to mention my two beautiful step daughter's (16), one from my previous marriage, and one from my current relationship (seven). They are all good kids; just sometimes need a kick in the tail or a word of encouragement. Sometimes it is hard for others to understand where my biological family starts and where it ends. I spent many years doing many things; parenting and computers are the most consistent. Unbelievably I did not touch an IBM Computer until I was 18. This was long before social networking was a craze, oddly enough if you wanted a web-page you had to build it yourself. Therefore, I taught myself HTML, many nights of coffee, pop and being called addicted. Later the need arose for CSS, Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, and Gimp. I also found that I was good at learning any program, becoming a quick study and finding any information as per the web, searching was a hobby that served and taught me well.
Kate HensonI'm old enough to know better and young enough to still do something about it, thank God! I'm interested in everything and anything and I'm not afraid to try new things. Writing has been a passion of mine since I was a kid but I only recently began letting other people read what I've written. Guess I'm a bit of a coward! So, between here and Wordpress, I'm taking a stab at writing. As a side note....I love to travel, go to good restaurants, take pictures, paint, write, and cross-stitch. I love my kids and grandson and hope to introduce him to all the things I enjoy just like I did his mom and uncle! lol
Kris JonesI live with my wonderful boyfriend of 3 years. We recently moved to a new state and I am still looking for a job. I love to learn new things, so if I write about a topic I don't know a lot about, I will do as much research as possible. I have written 5 novels, short stories, and poems. I hope to someday get something published. I have loved to write since I was a little kid.
Rena ZimmermanI am a 53 year old Granny of 5 who is still a kid at heart. I have been married to my husband for 36 years and I was really" just a kid" back then. We were dairy farmers for many years until my husbands health forced us to sell out. I have a son who is 33, a daughter who is 31, and a son who is 17 and a senior in hhigh school. I am a very outgoing people person because people never cease to amaze me. I've weatherd "The school of hard knocks " with humor. My greatest wish is to be a writer. Now I have somewhere to go with all the things I've written down and the ones that are still in my head! I live in the beautiful Ozark Mountains and Yes, I am a Missouri Hillbilly!

Lindsey N. DavisPhotography has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. As a young kid I had begged my parents for a camera, my mother finally caved in and allowed my Uncle to buy me one for Christmas. She was tired of me playing around with hers. I was 5 that year and ran around all day snapping one photo after another. It's rather funny looking back on those photo's now and seeing my poor families faces, you can tell they were tired of me. If only they knew what that one camera would have led too. It's the one "hobby" of mine that I've never grown out of or ever will. Some things have changed from that day so long ago. I'm not big on photographing people. My inspiration comes from the world around me much more so now. I've had a major upgrade as far as camera's go. No more Crayola film camera, digital is the way to go. Some things have stayed the same. I still get that rush when I look at my picture for the first time and then show them off.

Kellie ShanksMy love of writing came at an early age. When I was younger, I loved to make up stories and dream of what could be; I was always the "what if" kid. As I received more and more encouragement, I realized that my dream of writing wasn't so out of reach.
Gypsy SantiagoI've been writing web content professionally since 2001, right about my 2nd year in college, while I was completing a Journalism degree from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. I work at home, about 15 hours a day. If you can't reach me online, I'm either sleeping or playing with my kid. I've also never worked in an office (and don't plan to anytime soon, unless I own THAT office).
Jennifer TodoroffAuthor, screenwriter, producer for various kid programs and general audience projects. Graduate from Baylor University.
Chetera YoungI am a mother of four girls, ranging in age from 17- 4. I have a very different prospective on what I see. But I am real with my words. I was born & raised here in the Los Angeles area. I enjoy reading, arts & crafts, and spending time with the man that I love. I am very soft hearted and still a kid at heart.
Raven M. WolfAs a girl, I was always raised to believe that you can do anything that you put your mind to in a very creative atmosphere. We ve always had some kind of music, movie, crafts, or reading going on somewhere in the house as a kid. I grew up learning how to write stories and poetry and have always had an infinity for writing poetry, articles, and fiction stories. I m currently trying to get my first book off the ground while also working on writing up articles for my blog.
Nettie HamiltonI am a simple person that likes to stay at home and do crafts. I am 53 yrs old this July 08 and I have been married for 33 years. I am a country kid with lots of stories and living my life each day as it comes.
Rachel GibasThe heart of my passions lie in art. I was an art teacher, was an after school art specialist, worked as a program coordinator at an art museum, had an art gift basket business, and have had a solo show of my paintings and sculpture. That photography class in college is what kept me from becoming an English teacher. Now I only shoot photographs with my Holga toy camera for its anti-technology art effects. Since moving to Los Angeles, where I live with my wife and our four cats, I have discovered old movies and am working my way through the AFI 100. I am slowly experiencing all of the magnificent old theaters here, too. I love that in LA, everyone is a local act. When I need to dream, I go to nature and the outdoors. I yearn to travel, see animals in their environment, discover roadside Americana, and get giddy with delight at the weird and wacky. I collect experiences because I believe that's what life's all about.
Tania DawsonHappily married mom of 3 kids. Alex my scientist is 12, Hannah the "vet" is 8 and Brandon my 16 yr. old stepson is a joy to be around. I made the choice to be a SAHM and love the time it allows me with my family.

JV ThomasI am an ambitious college student currently working as a CNA. I plan to get through RN all the way to nurse practitioner and then kick back and sigh. My family is the love of my life and they are everything to me. I can often be found reading or trying to do homework.
Michelle AlaimoI'm a Communication Specialist (PIO) for a local school district and a freelance reporter who lives in San Jose, CA with my three children. I began working in education 11 years ago because of my love of working as a local newspaper reporter covering the education, crime, and local news beat. After graduating from San Jose State University in 1997 with a Bachelors in Journalism, I went straight to work as an education and crime reporter for Silicon Valley Community Newspapers(formally Metro Newspapers). Education reporting sparked my desire to work in a school district and in 2001, I began working at the Metropolitan Education District. As MetroED's Communication Specialist (PIO) I'm responsible for the district's press releases, newsletters, and most of the flyers and serve as the media contact for the district. I'm also responsible for the employee intranet, Facebook, My Space, and LinkedIn websites. For nine years I volunteered my time at my children's elementary school putting their yearbook together. As Yearbook Coordinator, I was in charge of all aspects of the yearbook: layout, editing, coordinating, training, and coordinating pictures. I have 3 children and have learned to stretch my budget by using coupons and entering (and winning) contests and sweepstakes. The wins provide my family with free tickets to movies and events that otherwise are not affordable on a tight budget. From time to time, I provide freelance publicity services to others and write freelance articles. Currently on the Yahoo Contributor Network, I'm working on the Yahoo Local project. For this project, I write 100-300 word "blogs" seven days a week about San Jose, Campbell, Mountain View, Milpitas, Palo Alto, and Sunnyvale.
