Finding the truth in the darkest of places is my dream, finding things that no one has found before. Unfortunately life has not been so kind as of yet to give me such a chance. I have always had an avid love for gaming and the gaming culture. From the first time I used a computer to the first time I played on a SNES, it is one of the few things I have done in life that has just felt right. When I'm not gaming I spend my time at school, work or just at home browsing the interwebs and keeping up to date with the newest happenings in the gaming industry. I also write music, study theoretical psychology and DJ. I'm a PC gamer primarily since I love mods and custom content, but I do spend plenty of time gaming on consoles with my bros and I was raised on the N64. I don't bash consoles since they tailor to a different kind of gamers with different preferences. I value every platform for it's strengths as they are all strong in some areas but falter in others. I write articles here with the intention of spreading gaming news around, sharing my opinion and helping debunk some of the myths the AAA publishers want you to believe. Long live virtual gaming.

  • Nancy Thornton
To be a good teacher, one has to be a learner, and I have accumulated knowledge on a vast array of subjects both related and unrelated to home schooling.Others who read my writing are touched in positive ways by my humor, creativity, and ability to bring them into greater understanding of a subject. Or situation. I like to encourage and inform people about the things that touch my life, and also theirs, for we live in a connected world. I believe that all living things are important and should be respected for their unique contribution to the world. I am often sought out in my circle of influence when someone needs help identifying a particular creature, its habits or danger to humans or pets. Pets I have cared for include mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish and arthropods both in my home and at my job at a pet store chain. My education as a medical assistant has been valuable to me in caring for loved ones, and informing others about their condition and home care. Subjects I can address include explaining tests and procedures, medical conditions, myths and concerns. I can also convey practical ways to find relief for minor issues at home. I share my Biblical understanding with a group of ladies on Facebook and recently, I have had the joy of becoming a sponsor in a Christian 12 step program called Celebrate Recovery. I am excited about new opportunities to help others overcome co-dependency, abuse, and depression. From what I have experienced in both arenas, life is messy, no one is perfect, and neither God nor anyone else always fits neatly into a box.

  • ann rosenstein
My name is Ann Rosenstein. I am a fitness professional, married and a mother of 2. I have been a fitness instructor and personal trainer for 22 years and am certified by ACE, AFAA & AEA. I am also an author of 4 water fitness books. As a fitness instructor it has become evident to me that most people are thoroughly confused about exercise and nutrition. I get a lot of questions from participants in my classes. I have researched the science of nutrition and exercise the whole time I have been an instructor and have found that if a person understands some basic concepts of nutrition and fitness, it can be fun, easy and enjoyable to eat well and exercise. I want to use my blog and my book Diet Myths Busted; Food Facts Not Nutrition Fiction to help demystify the vast amount of misinformation that is out there in print and in the media. Obviously, there are numerous diet programs and books available, yet we have an obesity problem that just keeps on growing-no pun intended. There is no shortage of fad diets and quick weight loss schemes. The bottom line with both diet and exercise is; if it sounds or looks too good to be true, it is. The ONLY way to maintain a healthy weight and body is to eat a clean wholesome diet of foods that are not overly processed or chemically generated and to change our sedentary lifestyle. If we do not change our lifestyle habits soon and drastically, by the year 2048, 100% of all adults in the US will be overweight or obese. Right now diseases that were once thought to affect only adults are now occurring in children. These diseases are diabetes, gall stones, fatty liver disease and high blood pressure. Some of the nutritional myths that I have encountered through out my teaching career are: * Fat is bad for you * Fruit juice is just as good as fruit * Calories don't matter * Meat is bad * You shouldn't eat after 8 p.m. Some of the exercise myths I have encountered are: * Women will bulk up if th
  • iammetx
I am a married mother of 2 beautiful children. My life long goal is to make a difference in this word and that hopefully, when I die, I'm not remembered for just living to die. I want to be remember for having been an influence to positive changes. My main focus in my writing revolves around the border and immigration. I've been an immigrant rights activist for several years now, jumping from forum to forum across the internet debating on issues related to immigration reform. That is where I have gained most of my education related to the topic. With time, I have also become involved in other issues such as LGBT rights, civil rights, and other topics that revolve around constitutional rights. My most recent project is working to dispel the myths about the safety of our borders. I've lived on the Texas border for over 30 years and can testify to what the truth about our borders really are. Recently I have become involved in the mystery of the murder of David Hartley and have written about it on my blog. I've always wanted to be a writer. As a child, I kept a diary and wrote on it constantly with the hope that some day when I grew up I would be able to publish my diary as a book about my life. In time, I lost that diary and started writing my diary on my computer, only to have those computers break down. Several years of writing gone down the drain, and now I'm mad! Now I want to write where my thoughts won't be in vain. So long as someone else out there reads what I have to say, then my stories will be saved in someone else's memory should I ever lose my work. In that way, I know that at least somewhere, with someone, I have made a difference, and hopefully, it is a good difference.

I'm thirteen years old and have not wasted a minute of it, I devote much of my time to debunking myths, misconceptions, and lies spread by creationists and that is what I am attempting to do on this site especially those spread by the creationist Jack Wellman who also has a profile here, I also will provide evidence for evolution and may eventually branch out in this profile on to other subjects, I understand that some may consider my material to be controversial so I will attempt to provide references when ever possible, if I miss some where and you would like to see a reference I will oblige.

  • Beverley Scott
I am 63 years old and I have moved at least 30 times in my life. I have lived on 2 continents, 3 countries, 4 cities and countless towns and villages. I immigrated to Canada in my late teens, so you would think that I have completely assimilated to North America. Not so, since I was educated in what was then an excellent school system, I learned almost everything I needed to know before I was 18. I have put myself through College, University and Grad school all on my own dime, but everything I learned simply reinforced what I had already been taught in school. I am a qualified medical laboratory scientist, and I have a graduate degree in Health Administration, but my first love has always been writing. I took Journalism as my first degree because after 12 years in medicine I was appalled at the level of medical journalism in the traditional media. I still am - misinformation and "dumbing it down" merely serve to confuse the public, and too much information on the internet can make it worse. How does the average Joe or Joanne separate the truth from the myths and outright lies? I am now retired from a professional life spent in the health care system in its various forms, and I can now concentrate on my first love, and hopefully help to dispel some of the confusion.
  • sawyer2012
Conservative, a former candidate for President of the United States (2008-Dem.) and likely Independent Candidate in 2012. Regardless of our needs or desire to have someone bail us out whenever the going gets tough, remember: the Federal Bureaucracy almost always screws things up: $50 Billion lost in Medicare fraud annually - so by all means, let's turn over ALL Healthcare to these same idiots. Solution? Don't entrust government with anything that can be done by the private sector (that's you and me). Whatever we as voters advocate for as individual citizens should be predicated and adjudged on the basis of what is best for America. High taxes, welfare, food stamps, tax breaks for some at the expense of others, bailouts, government ownership, etc., may benefit some of us in the short term, but are bad for you and me and bad for America in the long run. Although a Conservative, I believe: that Labor Unions (I belonged to 3) should be credited for the rise of the middle class, and hence the new prosperity in post -WWII America; that problems in African-American communities are NOT caused by racism; that the decline in American Public School Education is NOT caused by large class sizes, and poor teachers' pay; that capital gains tax breaks do NOT help businesses create jobs; that the top 10% of income earners do NOT pay 50% of the taxes; that free trade is good for America. To read the truth about these and other myths, see my website: sawyer2012.com. A former Owner of 20 Retail Book/Hallmark Stores; Regional V.P. for a Fortune 500 Company Co.; the Director of the 1990 Census - Dade/Monroe Counties, Fl; Former Social Worker, Youth Director, Vietnam Veteran, assembly line worker, worker at 7-Eleven, Walgreens, CVS, Jiffy Lube, I not only know how to create jobs and manage hundreds of employees, but I know what it's like working for a living. I think we should just kick Iran's ass.

As a licensed Virginia broker, I specialize in helping new and veteran buyers and sellers create successful transactions by teaching, showing and killer negotiation. My clients complete successful transactions not by accident, but through education and insight, meeting their goals and objectives, not mine. I write for Yahoo! Finance and Associated Content because of the myths, misunderstandings and secrecy surrounding real estate transactions. Our industry has relied on an uninformed public to make money and exploit opportunity. I believe that, like in democracy, informed citizens make better choices. Hopefully my articles reflect the kinds of questions and assumptions you ve had, too.
