The ParalegalCynthia M. Jama-Baxter ("Cyn-Jam") is the sole proprietor of My Paralegal Now. As a Paralegal, Cyn-Jam does a fair amount of legal research and writing. However, her real passion lies in the writing she does in her free time. A self-described Liberal Progressive, Cyn-Jam often writes articles, essays, short stories and poems set against the socio-political issues of the day. Cyn-Jam also shares that her social and political attitudes are as much a part of her character as is her sense of humor and life-long love of all things feathered and furred. Having survived a rather difficult childhood and troubled adolescence, Cyn-Jam escaped to New York City when she was only 19 years old, toting her one year old son along with her. After settling in Astoria, Queens, Cyn-Jam began a successful career in retail management. Over the next 15 years, Cyn-Jam worked in both the Chelsea and SoHo areas of NY City. It was there, amidst a marketplace of culture and free expression, where Cyn-Jam's socio-political liberal/progressive roots really took hold.
Sandra PhillipsSandra Phillips is a Board Certified Education Advocate having completed the National Special Education Advocacy Institute's Special Education Advocacy Training Program. Additionally, she holds a B.A. in Administration of Justice with a Business Minor earned from The Pennsylvania State University. She also has a Certificate in Paralegal Education from Villanova University's A.B.A. approved program. She began working in the legal field in 1991 and has an extensive legal writing and research background. Sandra's personal experiences navigating the complexities of the education system in an attempt to obtain services for one of her sons, in combination with her legal training and experience, peaked her interest in advocating for students with special needs. She enjoys assisting parents seeking to obtain services that are child specific, while at that the same time educating parents on how to successfully advocate for their own family. She enjoys freelance writing on this topic as well as others, but particularly in the area of youth sports. Youth sports is a family passion. She and her husband, who has been a teacher and High School Baseball & Football Coach for over 23 years, ran a summer youth football camp for 10 years. Their combined experiences in the world of youth sports are a source of writing inspiration for Sandra.
Anita BaroneI am Italian and Greek. I am of Christian background and I love to study both Christianity and Judaism. I am familiar with the Middle East because my family (Italians/Greeks) lived in Egypt during a time of prosperity in the metropolitan area of Cairo. I attended Italian elementary schools and later American high schools. This education opportunity gave me a great background and respect for historical figures, art works and varied political views in both continents. I lived in Florida, upstate New York, New York City, Minnesota and Los Angeles. My several moves were mostly due to an unprovoked unexplained one sided custody fight. I got to experience open cultural unfairness in the County Court in which I resided. My location changes were due to my moving to where my children were being moved. I was fortunate to be hired as an adjunct instructor at Rusmussen Business College in Minnesota. I taught Success Strategies, Business Ethics and Office Procedures. Besides being familiar with the Italian culture, I know the Greek culture. My older daughter has lived and attended college in Greece. I became thoroughly familiar with financial issues that come up when making personal transactions between the US and Europe. I have a California real estate broker license. I have experience in finding retail space for business owners. I renewed my license with my focus on Foreclosures, Short Sales and REITs. I have a Paralegal Certificate from UCLA Extension and I am currently enjoying a great volunteering opportunity at the Los Angeles Superior Court. I am planning on applying to law school in the next two years or so.
