Just a real person, who has lived through many difficulties in life, including spousal abuse, defending myself in Canadian family courts and tax court and the loss of pets. I hold no degrees - just the degree of pride I have in myself for getting past all the negative, to become a much stronger woman.

I am here to educate people on the proper care of their pets. I get behind the ugly hidden truths from pet foods, products, shelters, groomers and more. I will never write an article unless I know it is 100% factual.
  • Susie Q McBride
Sue is a semi-retired grandmother of one, and a mother of 3 grown children. She works part time as a merchandiser, dog groomer and free lance writing for pet issues. Sue has a certification in dog grooming and pet health care with 30+ years experience in the pet field, as she runs a small grooming shop from home. She has worked closely with dogs and cats in health care for many years. Her desire is to supplement retirement from home, writing articles on-line and in periodicals, and sharing her knowledge and passions through writing. Her specialty and love is mainly in the field of pet care. She does a lot of reading and research to broaden her knowledge in many areas and from life experiences as a mom, grandmother, and a survivor of suicide and other mental illnesses. Sue's desire is to share with others and help anyone she can through her own life experiences.

I am a survivor. I am a survivor of domestic abuse, a survivor of cancer, I survived a house fire and I survived the loss of a Centennial Farm. I am an entrepeuneur. I have started several different business ventures in my life. I have owned a horse farm, a home care business and I have sold Mary Kay Cosmetics. I have been a free-lance writer, as well as writing for publication. I have a wide palette of interests from horses, to hats; from home care to pet care; from art to animals; from music to ministry. I do tend to get bored if I stay in one job too long. I have been a waitress, a saleswoman for a bridal store, a print shop clerk, a typesetter, a writer, a wax chaser (for a fine arts foundary), a horse trainer, an intstructor (horses & microbiology); a senior research lab techincian for the WHO; the question is not some much what I have done; but what will I do next?

After spending 10+ years in the healthcare field as a nurse, I have elected to stay home with my children. I have seen and experienced so many things during my time as a nurse and what better place to put my experience to work than in writing. Not only does it allow me to earn extra money, but it still gives me an outlet to express myself. Writing has always been a passion of mine, so now I truely have the best of both worlds. Along with my healthcare experience and being the mom of a daughter 13 and a son 11, I am an avid animal lover and an active volunteer with our local animal shelter. Most of that time is spent at adoption drives, trying to place our cats and dogs in loving homes, something that many of them have never had a chance to know. With this process, much time is spent rehabilitating these animals and building a trust with them that they have lost over time due to neglect and abuse. There is nothing more rewarding than to see a pet who has come in with both emotional and physical scars completely turn around and be placed with a family who many times are desiring the love and affection of a pet just as much as that pet needs the same from them. It is one of the most rewarding experiences to be a part of.

To be a good teacher, one has to be a learner, and I have accumulated knowledge on a vast array of subjects both related and unrelated to home schooling.Others who read my writing are touched in positive ways by my humor, creativity, and ability to bring them into greater understanding of a subject. Or situation. I like to encourage and inform people about the things that touch my life, and also theirs, for we live in a connected world. I believe that all living things are important and should be respected for their unique contribution to the world. I am often sought out in my circle of influence when someone needs help identifying a particular creature, its habits or danger to humans or pets. Pets I have cared for include mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish and arthropods both in my home and at my job at a pet store chain. My education as a medical assistant has been valuable to me in caring for loved ones, and informing others about their condition and home care. Subjects I can address include explaining tests and procedures, medical conditions, myths and concerns. I can also convey practical ways to find relief for minor issues at home. I share my Biblical understanding with a group of ladies on Facebook and recently, I have had the joy of becoming a sponsor in a Christian 12 step program called Celebrate Recovery. I am excited about new opportunities to help others overcome co-dependency, abuse, and depression. From what I have experienced in both arenas, life is messy, no one is perfect, and neither God nor anyone else always fits neatly into a box.

I am a mother, and wife. I worked as a retail sales district manager for 7yrs specializing in inventory loss/prevention. I am a survivor of both child sexual abuse and Hurricane Katrina. Both experiences were tragic, yet the lessons I learned about survival and the human heart and pure will to live are priceless. I have fought many battles with my health that have given me a an above average understanding of the human body and medical terms and pharmacudical medication uses, I also have a great knowledge of homeopathic remedies and preventive measures that in my experience are much more effective and benificial to our health without the side effects of prescriptions. My knowledge and understanding of animals of all varieties can smooth the road of training a new pet, save you a ton of money on vet bills, and stop unwanted habbits and behavior before they start. I have bred Long haired Dauchsund's for 15 years. My first job was at a rat farm in MS, and I grew up in a pet store where I worked and took care of the animals everyday. Spending my childhood split between South Mississippi and Sicily, I learned alot about cooking and have been doing it since I could talk. Preparing food must come from the heart, my secrets in the kitchen are guaranteed to make anyone a great cook. It's also a great place to save money. For example by using my receipe for simple homemade bread, with no kneeding! Looking for gardening tips? I'm a veteran at growing every possible vegetable that we consume, also a great way to protect your budget. I am the one stop shop for making ends meet, when you have to stretch that penny you dont have.

Diagnosed with Bipolar I Disorder in 1995, I left the accounting profession in 2000 to begin a new life's journey: to somehow help erase the social stigma of mental illness, particularly Bipolar Disorder. I have spent the last 11 years reading bipolar related books, researching psychiatric journals, magazine articles, bipolar blogs, message boards, online groups, along with developing relationships "in real life" with others afflicted with this disorder. I have learned much and have seen several common threads throughout their lives. I hope to share some of my experience, strength, hope & knowledge with others touched by this baffling illness.

My interests are so varied it seems that I picked them randomly, like pulling a number out of a hat! Each area of "expertise" in my life is based on personal experience. I am passionate about many things and at the top of the list is people. To me, life is about encouraging others, compassion, being authentic and good rock and roll music.

Hi! Finished with my coursework and doing my unpaid internship for my MA in counseling. Lived a crazy life, but it has given me tons of insight! Before becoming a therapist, I was in management and human resources for Toys R Us for ten years.
