Amber CrottsYou know the lone moms you see in the grocery store or gym herding their children from one place to the next, responding to their incessant and random comments to the best of her ability, seemingly desperate to just get them somewhere they are contained? Well, thats me. Of course those moments are few of many, and there is an entire story of my life leading up to the present, which you may or may not be interested in. I like to think of my life as pretty interesting and love to share my thoughts and experiences, its why I write. I believe on a certain level, all humans are desperate to share their lives with others. I am grateful to have finally found a place I can do this. I grew up in a suburb of San Francisco, partied hard as a teen, had many all-nighters with my best friends and endured some very challenging consequences of that lifestyle, though also had some of the best times of my life. I think as I have grown older I have lost appreciation for the closeness and solidity of my friendships in high school and college. I find myself sometimes longing for it, for the abundance of communication, the neverending interest, the falling asleep on the phone with your boyfriend because you can't stand to be away from him for a whole night. If only I could be so infatuated with my husband still. So after trying to succeed in a community college with the worst self-discipline you can imagine, I decided to enlist in the Armed Services. I wanted to see how much I could endure and came out a much stronger and more confident woman in the end. I also came out of it married to a Sailor in the US Navy. A shotgun wedding of sorts, but one that has endured through the best and worst of each of us for 10 years this April. We now have two beautiful preschoolers, by the names of Zachary and Mikayla, and boy, does your life take on a whole new meaning when you have the lives of two children in your hands. I am have now been a stay-at-home mom for over a year. Sometimes, I

Keri WilmotAs a pediatric occupational therapist, practicing in the Greater Boston area, with almost 10 years of clinical experience, Keri has worked with many children with varying developmental delays and disabilities. She specializes in working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and elementary school age children to enhance their gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and sensory processing skills. Keri spent five years working in an Early Intervention Program providing home based occupational therapy. For this work, she is recognized by the state of Massachusetts with her Certification as an Early Intervention Specialist. In clinical settings, Keri is a current team member of a High Risk Infant Follow-Up Clinic at a local children's hospital that provides developmental testing and screening to premature infants and graduates of the Special Care Nursery. She is trained in sensory diet interventions that include the Wilbarger Therapressure Protocol and Vital Links Therapeutic Listening Programs to aid in sensory integration. When therapy sessions last from 30 minutes to an hour, it is always a challenge to find a captivating and motivating toy to target specific skills and demonstrate home program suggestions to parents, in such a short time frame. Though her experience is mostly with children with disabilities, the recommendations Keri shares on this website, are toys that she believes can be helpful for any child to stimulate educational growth, so as to achieve developmental milestones in a fun, playful and natural way.

Denise McGrailI live in a western suburb in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. I own The M.U.S.I.C Program which is a music and movement program for area preschoolers. I enjoy my job because it allows me to introduce children to music while helping explore their creative selves. At the same time I get the opportunity to unleash my creativity. I have been writing for Associated Content for a few years, off and on. I enjoy this format because it gives me the opportunity to explore different topics and do something that I have loved since I was a little girl - writing. I hope that my content touches people and makes them see both the serious and the light side of life. I also hope that my writing inspires people to find ways to fulfill their life-long passions and dreams. In addition to everything mentioned above, in 2011 I fell in love with running. I know that sounds completely exaggerated and a little silly, but it is true. In the past year, I have gone from loathing running to making it part of my daily routine. I was a novice runner who completed her first 5K race in May with a sad time of 44:44 and by September I ran a race with a PR of 29:44. I also completed a half marathon in October. I would like to use Yahoo! Voices as an opportunity to write to an audience of beginning runners by sharing my stories and tips (like how bouncy balls work magic on your sore feet). I have a large group of running friends, all different levels, who continuously encourage me to expand my horizons and challenge what I believe to be my limits. I read blogs about running and have also started to mentor novice runners in my area to help them achieve their running and fitness goals. This is a new direction that my life has taken. Running has become an obsession with me and I happy to have this forum to share my experiences. Happy reading!
