I'm 51 years young, divorced 4 years, and have 3 beautiful daughters ranging from early to late 20's. My 2 older gals are nurses and my baby is working her way there. When I'm having a, "good" face day I could pass for the older sister! Hard to believe but it's true. I stand a voluptuous 5'5" with auburn hair and brown eyes, (no one ever says auburn eyes hmmm.) Currently I'm holding down 2 part time jobs. One is a school bus driver for special needs children and the other is the wonderful world of retail. I feel the customers of the latter job should truly join the ranks of my short bus gang at times. Needless to say both careers are emotionally and physically challenging, and both receive very little respect from society,...at least from my experiences over the years. I've completed a CNA course recently and will be certified within the next 2 months. Wow I guess that's a pretty eclectic array of job choices. That, or I'm just a glutten for punishment.

I was born in Wisconsin, which makes me a lover of all things related to Cheesehead country. When talking about sports, I start with the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers, then gravitate toward places I've lived. This includes Colorado, Oklahoma, Idaho, and now Washington. Moving around has provided a diverse point of view. I've had good jobs and not-so-good jobs; I've lived in nice houses and, well...this apartment. I get along with all types of people, but I don't go out of my way to identify. The subjects I write about could come from anywhere. I have two kids, so I feel confident in this area, even if I'm not perfect. I love music, movies, and sports, and spend too much time learning about each. I enjoy history, especially crime and punishment and famous figures. I'm intrigued about science fiction areas like time travel and outer space, but I don't spend much time learning Klingon. If you're reading this far, you like what you've read. If that's the case, drop me a line and let me know what you've thought about anything I've written. I enjoy the feedback.

Growing up in West Texas always seemed like such a punishment to me growing up. As an adult, I have learned to appreciate the fact that I grew up in West Texas. I believe it taught me to respect people you meet, and appreciate those you have in your life. Also, being in small cities helped by having smaller classes in school, allowing more one-on-one time with educators. In my opinion, I would not be who I am today if I hadn't been given the opportunity to live in that area. Now, living in East Texas, I appreciate all the greater things in life, and strive to always be better than what I am now. Learning new things is always great.
  • Jack Dollens
Born and raised in lovely Southern California, I've been working in the public school system as a custodian and maintenance/operations employee for 25 years. Been married for the duration of that time, no kids, two spoiled cats. At an early age, I took an interest in both politics and history, and my mother learned that sending me to my room for punishment meant that I could read some mundane article found in in the encyclopedia Britannica. Yeah, I was one of those weird kids. I also enjoy writing, and my work is often tinged with a bit of sarcasm and humor. Before coming here, I blogged on a few sites, and though I've been told I write pretty well, I'm my own worst critic. I've recently started my own blog, and my hope here is to entertain and put my own spin on politics and current events, as well as to hone my skills further.

I was raise by two very wonderful parents. Yes, they were flawed, made mistakes, had problems, were financially "poor", but "UBER RICH" with "LOVE"!!! Both are gone now, but they left behind, instilled in their children some very valuable and irreplaceable qualities, such as: A Proven & Strong Belief in "GOD", "Humor and Laughter", for you can't have one without the other! An eagerness & willingness to help others, closeness & importance of "FAMILY" & friends, truthfulness, honesty, interity, keeping one's word when given & not to give it easily. A deep sense of "responsibility", owning up to errors & mistakes & facing the consequences. Showing honor, dignity & respect to one's elders & others in positions of authority, obeying rules, laws & other such requirements regardless of how you might feel personally, with the only exception being that "God's laws & requirements of & for us superceeded man's. To change things legally not violently or destructively, to have fun, but know that what we did could & would affect our future. They taught not always with words, but I for one learned by watching them. My Dad would tell me "Don't be the one always talking, but 'watch & listen' - observe others in all kinds of situations & circumstances! See who they associate with, because that's who they really are!! My Mom was sweet, soft & mild spoken, but when she had to dish out punishment, she did. Dad?! Well, you did well not to cross him the wrong way. He wasn't 'physical' with us, he didn't have to be!!! He was our 'father' & expected & got our respect. He demanded, commanded, required & expected "Double Honor & Double Respect" for our Mother!!! When you were old enough, you were expect to help out with various responcibilities around the house, & eventually get a "JOB" to buy not only your own things, but to pay towards "Food & Board"! You also were taught to wash your

I was born in Savannah, Georgia and spent my younger years as a government brat moving around a lot. At the time it seemed cruel and unusual punishment, but it contributed over time to making me a lifelong learner. I lived in many places, made a lot of friends and found that I actually enjoyed this nomadic life style. Living in the shadow of a moving van helped me learn what was important in life -friends/family and what was not important - stuff. Since we paid by the pound to move, I learned to donate to worthy causes, accessorizing with fewer items of clothing, reading library books that could be returned and traveling around the world in a backpack and one big carry-on. I love to journal, write haikus, snuggle and play with my cats, read anything and everything, do word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. I am not fond of cooking and love recipes that contain 3 items and can be prepared in 15 minutes. I find myself often commenting on our educational system because I raised a child in 2 different public school systems. She had a learning disability that pushed her into the spotlight and found me yanking her out of it, so that she would not think she was stupid, but that she simply learned in a different way. I earned a teaching certificate in college and I used every iota of that learning and a lot of additional researching in helping her succeed. I learned to speak my mind clearly and firmly and be my child's advocate, because no one else was. She is a success today and I am proud to be sharing her continued journey. I call myself a jack of all trades and master of none, but I was fortunate to have been able to volunteer and work in several positions that opened me up to new skills and the opportunity to serve. I love to write to relieve stress and find my inner voice, that sometimes needs some coaxing to show itself and other times just bursts out on the page. I look forward to this opportunity to share my journey with you.
