Bobby PembletonBobby Pembleton owns and manages Strange Matter: a live music venue, vegan restaurant, classic arcade and underground community gathering space in the unique city of Richmond, VA. His lifelong interests include Science Fiction, Punk Rock, Liberal Politics, Writing and rockstar scientists such as Carl Sagan and Ray Kurzweil. In addition to being a young small business owner, Bobby was the Editor-in-Chief of a politically satirical, independent newspaper publishing 3000 issues per week in Fairfax, VA while attending college and worked for six years in custom screenprinting. He enjoys having thorough intelligent conversations with friends and writing outlandish Science Fiction short stories. An old dubbed copy of Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha has been stuck in his car's cassette player for as long as he can remember.
Libbi RichMiddle-aged punk princess; pop culture hound; geekgirl; reader of nanopunk/cyberpunk/comics/ anything-I-can-get-my-hands-on; wife and mom. In a few of my many past lives I worked as contributing photojournalist and associate editor of a now defunct magazine, media director for a now defunct advertising agency, street team lead for Bill Graham Presents, and Manager-PromoNinja-resident groupie for a (you guessed it) now defunct band. Highlights of my life range from getting thrown out of the Mabuhay Gardens during a Dead Kennedy's-Black Flag show to seeing Wendy O. Williams torch a car on stage at The Longshoreman's Hall; from seeing Green Day grow from Sweet Children, playing at Gilman with Al Sobrante on drums, to seeing Tre smile at me from behind the stage-side soundboard during the AFI set at the Phoenix stop of the August 2010 Crash Love-21st Century Breakdown tour; from graduating law school to passing the bar exam; from meeting the partner of my dreams to having his children; from being a Special Education advocating PTA mom to having Henry Rollins tell me, to my face, that it's ok to be punk after 45. After taking a 15 year break to raise my kids, I am resurrecting my journalism career, focusing on covering music, comics and geek culture, social issues, and anything else that stokes my passion. Writing is as it always was: a joy, a burden, a need, a dream; digital photography a learning curve. I hold ancient degrees in Journalism and Creative Writing and a somewhat more recent degree in Law, with a specialization in Juvenile Criminal Justice (for the defense; I really am a bleeding heart liberal). I left my heart in San Francisco, will remain a New Yorker for life, and tolerate my life in suburban Arizona.
Rei NishimotoVeteran music/entertainment journalist. Written for publications in US, England, Germany, Japan & Brazil. Lives and breathes metal/rock, tattoos, punk art, comics and life. Always looking for the next interesting thing to hit the world. Hit me up if you dare.
Megan ParishMy heart and soul are made of nature, exploration, art, and amazing music you've never heard of. I love punk, but it's dead, and anarchism has always been a joke. 90's Nickelodeon, however, lives. As does the spirit of ska music. You'd find me at coffeeshops, record stores, Goodwill, bowling alleys.. but most importantly.. anywhere and everywhere beautiful outside. I'm a destined traveller and individualist. For these reasons and more, I plan to own my own business. :)
