My name is Paula Walsh and I am a 43 year old woman living in Pt Townsend on Washington States’ beautiful Olympic Peninsula. I have lived many places around the United States in my life including the Seattle area for 20 yrs. I went to The University of Washington where I studied Mathematics and Computer Science. I had a successful career as a software engineer and worked at several high tech companies such as Microsoft. I am currently consulting and advising a client on her internet marketing strategy, including such venues as Facebook, YouTube and Google. I enjoy reading and watching documentaries. Some of my recent views include “Born into Brothels,” a film about the children of sex workers in India, and “Inside Job” a film about the financial crisis of 2008. I regularly review the films I watch online at Netflix.com. I love outdoor activities and would rather spend my exercise time on a hike with my Golden Retriever than at the gym for a workout. I also love whitewater sports including river rafting and kayaking. I have rafted many rivers throughout the Pacific Northwest and as far away as The Zambezi River in Zimbabwe. I seek the serenity of being where rivers go and roads don’t, into the backcountry for days at time. I spend a lot of time online as I don’t watch any television. I Yahoo! with people all over the world and love to learn about new places and new things. Recently I have chatted with people in such places as Switzerland, Belgium, South Africa and Greece. I listen to all kinds of music on the internet and get my fill of the news on NPR.

Under the night sky of the southern hemisphere, our staff prepares all meals and sets up the campfire . Most of the rapids are III+ and IV rapids, but also a few IV+ and some class V. At one point, we reach a narrow canyon with an impassable rapid. Here we have to do a 300m portage. Among the wildlife in this remote and isolated canyon, we find river otters, bobcat, foxes, condors, torrent ducks and cormorants etc.

I love to sit down and curl up with a good book, especially historical fiction.
