I have spent the past 25 years working as a freelance creative journalist and photographer. My work has provided me with many unique learning opportunities and experiences - from "piloting" a blimp to logging with horses. I am a genealogist, teaching "how-to" classes on pursuing family history. I also am a Master Gardener and enjoy researching new uses for local plant life. I recently learned how to weld and love to build unique sculptures from rusted metal, found objects and other cast away items. Writing has always been a strong point for me. Throughout high school and college I assisted others with editing and typing research papers. I have edited several websites and re-written content for Ditto Daddy patterns (in progress). I am fussy about grammar and spelling; it is my opinion that the English language of today is slowly but surely falling apart with the improper use or application of commas and apostrophes, incorrect use of words that sound the same but mean much different things such as their, they're and there; your and you're; its and it's; the use of commas when none are needed; and, finally the misinterpretation of singular words such as team, family, and group to be plural. I was raised in the military and our schools were tough on grammar, spelling and punctuation. I find this to be of great benefit today though it is also infinitely frustrating when I consistently see things being slaughtered by people who can't take the time to do things right. I feel like if I'm going to do something, I need to do it correctly.
