Raised by two humans, five budgies, and dozens of rodents, I graduated from Capital University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts and no marketable skills. I was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure on my 28th birthday, and spent over two years on dialysis before receiving a live kidney transplant from my cousin in December 2009. At age 32 I was diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, shining a great deal of light onto most of my life. I am very fond of guinea pigs.
  • Wendy Gilliatt
Wendy Gilliatt is a wife, mother and grandmother who inhabits the southern outskirts of ‘fly over’ country. On occasion she has been found in a nondescript corporate cubical attempting to sooth the fragile egos of overly sensitive human beings. However, she harbors an intense dislike of rodents, and makes every effort to avoid the rat race as much as is possible on this particular planet. After some initial struggle, she obtained her degree from the School of Hard Knocks, eventually excelling in Biblical Wisdom. She has a P.H.D. (Particularly Holy Deity) in Truth and Consequences. While such achievements are rarely recognized in Important Places, she is unwilling to recognize Harvard or Yale, so it all works out to the good. She is often accused of monopolizing the family computer and only chuckles when reminded of her insistence during the late ‘90’s that PC’s were unnecessary and a waste of time. Her better half installed one against her wishes, and has since spent the better part of their time together warning her of the dangers of addiction. She never ceases to be amazed at the ability to read, research and study whatever tickles her fancy at any given moment. Her addiction…ahem…her infatuation has proven to be a boon to her intellectual stimulation as she has a virtual classroom at her fingertips and works daily to satisfy her natural curiosity.
  • Jane Away
Born in a small prairie town, I currently live in a slightly larger prairie town, and in spite of our ideological differences, I remain hopelessly enamoured with the mid-west. My values are distinctly family oriented and socially liberal- I care about what's best for people, animals and the planet as a whole, interconnected organism. In a healthy society, what's best for your neighbour works out to be what's best for you too- it behooves us all to work together to support and provide for each other and our world. I am an artist, a mother, and an ardent slave to many animals, including cats, dogs, birds, rodents, lizards and tarantulas. I'm particularly fascinated with animal psychology lately, and I enjoy observing their individual motivations and learning processes through their interactions with humans and each other. It's good practice for raising teenagers. I've been involved in various online communities since the late nineties in a variety of capacities, and find online relationship dynamics fascinating as well. The success or ultimate demise of online communities and what factors contribute to this are of particular interest to me, and I've probably spent more time than it's wise to admit studying these factors in depth. There's nothing more fun than watching the rise and fall of civilization on a micro-scale.

I am a mother of three boys from upstate New York. I run my own business farming rodents and rabbits for the pet industry. I have over a decade of experience raising animals and reptiles, specifically Boas and Water Monitors (V. salvator). In the past I worked as an office manager for a towing/trucking company, where I learned many business skills hands on. In my spare time, I love taking the kids fishing, hiking, camping, car racing, and just lounging around the house.

After living in Colorado for her entire life and virtually exhausting most of the adventures available to her there, she decided to pack up and move to Philadelphia. She brought only her wits, her Bachelor of Arts in Film from CU Boulder, and a dufflebag with her. What's next? Who knows!
