Vincent HarrisI guess I'm yet another one of those people who is in one job and wishes he was doing another. I feel like I'm a writer. A full-time writer at heart, though not by trade. I have a freelance writing gig, two or three pieces a week, but not enough to live on, hence my day-job in the financial industry. My professional writing is about local and national musicians. I do concert previews, album reviews, artist interviews and profiles. Anyhoosel, I love music. I love food. I love NASCAR. And I love writing about all of those things. I could stand to lose a few pounds (see above reference to food-love), but I have an amazing wife, an incredible son, a paycheck, fantastic friends and 12,000 songs on my iPod. What else do you need? I mean, other than, like, a really good club sandwich with the little sword toothpicks?
Donna Piko-JonesThe little old gray-haired woman that gets in front of you when you are driving and you swear at her, but she can't hear you because she can barely see above the steering wheel - that's me!
DisclosureNewsOnlineDisclosure began publication in March 2003 as a monthly news product featuring information about southeastern Illinois, not designed to provide “competition†for local mainstream newspapers, but to supplement them. The print version of Disclosure provides news analysis, not breaking news (unless something’s happening on deadline), as we are monthly and not daily or weekly. The website is for breaking stuff that can’t hold until print version, then we do a print version in detail. Disclosure tells the stories that local mainstream daily or weekly news products refuse or are afraid to tell because they are beholden to their advertisers and to the local officials, from which they are spoon fed their information instead of going out and getting the information the hard way—by real investigation. Disclosure doesn’t care whose toes are stepped on because a public official is a public official and needs to lead a life above reproach, both on the job and off. Our taxpayer dollars fund their lifestyle and therefore they are answerable to us for the entire time they are ‘employed’ by we the people, 24/7. They hold us common people accountable for our actions every hour of the day, every day of the week…they should be no different. There are only a few people on staff at Disclosure. There are no regular office hours and we are generally available every day of the week and into the evening. We only have a couple of stringers and two other “people who work for us.†We also have MINION. Our Minion keep us informed of goings-on in every county surrounding us. Our Minion are not paid. They are faithful people who think like us: they believe that the elite need to be taken down several pegs, favoritism should be shown to no one in matters of law enforcement, justice, schooling or employment, or a number of other things in which a handful of the connected and powerful always seem to be getting away with, whil
Barbara kasey SmithBarbara Kasey Smith was raised in a small coal-camp in West Virginia. When she was old enough to be aware of the hard life of a coal miner s daughter, she began realizing many things in life is not fair for some people, mostly the poor. Most West Virginians were not born with a silver spoon in their mouths, they had to work hard and long for everything they got and money did not come easy for them but they were respectable, hard-working, kind-hearted, and family oriented people. Barbara graduated from high school in West Virginia, went to Beckley College for a stint before going to work for the federal government where she was employed for 32 years. She loved her different job positions in the government and enjoyed putting forth her efforts to deliver the best possible to her customers. She specialized in several different fields while employed there and retired with a feeling that she did accomplish many goals while she worked there. On-the-job experiences is an education in itself and it does enhance a person s ability to move forward in different job positions. Barbara has enjoyed travels overseas and within the U.S. as well as doing other things she s longed to do but never had the time to do. She and her husband continues to travel to many areas because they have a lot of the same likes and dislikes. Barbara has an interest in many things, i.e., flower arranging, fishing, crafts, games, hiking, traveling, the beach, loving all her family, writing books, poetry, and articles. Barbara s had three books published and she has been recognized in several poetry books, poetry magazines, and other Internet Sites for her writings. She also has received Editor Choice Awards for her poety. Barbara s days are now spent traveling with her husband, writing, and enjoying her pet Miss Daisy. Barbara believes life continues to bring many interests my way and I enjoy a challenge in anything that I do.
Bella RadmerI'm 34 and was born and raised in Olympia,Wa on an Indian Reservation for the Shoshoni Tribe.I was raised in a domestic violent home,I am a incest survivor by both my father and my brother. Both of my parent's were deceased by the time i was 19 and was a mother and married at the age of 18.I have a sister as well and she has been dealing with a numerous amount of substance abuse issues since she was 11 years old.Not all of my childhood was torture and the only reason it wasn't was because both of my mother's parent's protected me to the best of their ability. My grandfather was the Shaman of our tribe and my grandmother was the medicine woman. As far back as i could remember our neighbor's would come for cures from everything from Gout to Gall Stones,it wasn't until i was in the 4th grade that i realized their were actual Doctor's and hospital's that people not from the "Res" went to see to be cured. I was bounced around alot as a child due to my father's inability to stay sober keep a job and therefore pay the bill's and rent. Many midnight moves were made escaping angry landlord's and local thugs owed money. When i was 12 my mother finally left my father for good and we moved back to the Reservation and it was then that i began to realize that i was just one of many children who were and who had grown up in a violent household.Substance abuse lay at it's core and the living condition's all my neighbor's lived in due to the low poverty level, the low educational level most held and the stigma attached to being native american and living on a Reservation. There were little or no job opportunities to be found in the surrounding area's and the factories and forest industry were being depleted by then. I'm the mother of 4 children and have actual had 6,2 i reluctantly gave up for adoption.I am still dealing with that grief and am unsure if that will be subsiding anytime soon.I am self aware and self conscious,i have only recently been able to accept that i am good e

Tyler BanschbachI'm a student of engineering interested in honing my creativity skills. The art of expression through writing has always been one of my major interests. I've joined the Yahoo! David KingObama will be just as important as M.L.K. to the Black/ minority community by the end of his presidency. As he ran for the U.S. Presidency in 2008, I remembered him from the 2004 DNC speech, but it was still a surprise as I didn't know anything of him other than that. But as the process went on I became increasingly impressed by Barack Obama & his family. He was head of The Harvard Lawyer Association. I was also impressed by his humane & compassionate traits as far as choosing to stay in Chicago & be a community organizer to help less fortunate people instead of easily accepting high paying attorney jobs at giant powerful firms on Wallstreet. Also, he has a great sense of family structure even though his own background was not as successful. That tells me that he is educated & adapted above his environment instead of being consumed by it. & many black homes need to see that above all else. For me, Barack Obama has made the world & its needs come into focus as opposed to just myself & my own. Being raised in indonesia with family ties, for me, makes him more worldy wise compassionate & aware. I think he is the guy to bring this whole world together more than it has ever been because of his entire spread out & well rounded background. Here's a black democratic president, one letter away from having the same name as the most wanted terrorist ever, the same name as Sadam (the middleeast president that Bush killed), with the blackest father & whitest mother, irish blood & Dick Cheney as a cousin for god's sake. There has to be some fate to all that. If not fate, than opportunity is a great word. For me, if this isn't the guy to bring it all together, or at least the most positive change the world has needed, than there is no other! I ask you to give him more time. The world wasn't screwed up in one day, neither will it be fixed in one. But I believe we will have the most & quickest gains through Barack Obama. We're all glad that President Obama got Osama Bin Laden! But
Arron GibsonI am a high school graduate, planning to attend Trident Technical College of Charleston and then transfer to the College of Charleston or another accredited university to finish my major. My plans beyond college are to apply for acceptance to a United States college of medicine and either specialize in psychiatry or surgery. Born in the small town of Waynesville in Apalachian North Carolina, I have began my journey in a rather humble standpoint. My tenacity, motivation, integrity, and my inability to accept failure shall take me far. My interests lie in scholarly studies, riding my Honda Shadow throughout rural areas, and self-improvement through doctrines of philosophies. I am not judgemental, as most of my youth I was overweight and maliciously tormented for it. I have allowed that to hold me back from many things, until eventually I rose above such hindrances. Through God, and much self-provided motivation, I have become a new person. Although, I still hold on to the way countless people made me feel and have developed an undying need to help others. The most gratifying moments in my life are those in which I have helped others to make positive changes in their lives. I can see the good in all, despite negative upfront behavior.
Muhammad Zohaib KhatriHello every one in this wide helpful and full of information family. As you can see my name is above and I would like to tell you more about myself. Basia KalinI've covered an entire Jethro Tull album on a dare, joined a Klezmer group and learned, to a degree, Yiddish so I could sing AND play piccolo in the band and founded an orchestra and concert band. I survived - with most of my brain cells, a disco band. I have been a very busy mad piccolo player. I play at churches, wedding, receptions, bars, wherever I can whip out the flute or piccolo (or, on occasion, the viola) BUT I have other interests besides being the center of attention on the band stand. . I love the Chicago Cubs - because they are family. I grew up down the street from Wrigley and you love your family no matter what. So there, Cubbie un-lovers. . Being an aging single babe, I of course have the obligatory cats '" you can't be a mad piccolo player aging Cubs fan and not have cats. . I love to garden but, being a city dweller am limited to my big back porch. I have grown hot peppers, tomatoes, tons of basil (my pesto kills) and of course pretty, pretty flowers. . Another benefit of growing up in Chi-town is that the local PBS station used to run silent movies on the weekends. I got very addicted to them as a child and try to get to see them at the Chicago Silent Film Society when I can. . Silent movies lead one to foreign films '" trust me, they do. And so, I must admit that the overwhelming majority of films I watch are foreign. I love America, but the majority of films made here are aimed at ADD teen-agers who want to see things blow up or women chain-sawed or worse. To each her own, but that doesn't float my boat so, off to France or Iran or Ireland or -- for my movie fixes. I've even got my aged moms watching them. . Add to the above my eclectic taste in books. I must be on the FBI and CIA lists if only for all the books I checked out from the library on serial murderers. You see, I find the human mind fascinating. I am not as interested in the "what" of murders but the "why" '" why did this fellow or that become such a beast?

Janey_may79I am a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a believer in Christ and a woman. More than anything I am human, I am not perfect, I have feelings, joys, experiences and I love living life. Sometimes life is not always peachy but even in my toughest times I believe in persisting, getting through the fog and continuing on. I know that after the rain the sun comes out and typically depending on my location a rainbow might be in the sky above. Life is an adventure. Sometimes it is a road that is less traveled. But no matter what I always enjoy putting one foot in front of the other to see what comes my way. I realize if I would have given up early on in life I would have missed so many things. Such as my nieces, nephews, friendships, and being a wife. So no matter what comes my way I choose life. I love laughing, having a good time, loving others and finding pure joy in the simple pleasures life has to offer. I just want to give a little advice to you. Don't ever give up, get up put one foot in front of the other and that rainbow will surely come out soon.
Deborah Cruz-Beck,Truthful MommyDeborah Cruz-Beck, aka Truthful Mommy, is the creator and writer of the blog The TRUTH about Motherhood. She is a freelance writer and work-at-home mother. She lives in the Midwest with her two beautiful little girls, ages three and five, and her husband, who she affectionately calls the Big Guy. Deborah has a Master's of Art in Liberal Studies from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She spends her days loving on her littles, surviving suburbia and shuttling her girls between Catholic school, ballet and play dates. When she's not exposing the truth about motherhood or advocating for sisterhood through motherhood, she can always be found exhausting her potential and realizing her dreams. Above all, Deborah is embracing life with her daughters and tackling (or taking on) each and every trial, tribulation and celebration on little to no sleep. Stop by the blog to see for yourself what a solid intermingling of Mommy brain and verbal diarrhea can produce. It's all love.
BilloThe bold text above the text box I'm writing this in would have me tell the world about myself. Is that your game, bold text? Game ON, then. Ladies and gentlemen (from this point forward I shall call you "The Reader"), my name is Billo. When introducing myself, I like to present the following points. My name (already covered) My hobbies What you can expect from me (usually exaggerated) What's my sign? (I usually hang out at hippie parties) Second thing's second, The Reader! My hobbies. I'm not much into religion, so my entire stance on life is that we're killing time 'till we go. Hobbies are therefore a must! My two main hobbies are writing and directing video shorts for the internet and writing a blog. Does that hum something along the tune of impressive? I hope so... your opinions are all I have left. Point three, what can you expect from me? At college parties where I usually wield this conversation starter, I usually exaggerate ("I can chug two kegs by myself and then I can beat up like... so many dudes", "You heard what about me? You heard I puke after one sip of a wine cooler? That's ridiculous, doll... just ridiculous", etc) But for this blog, I'll be legitimate with my claims. You can expect me. If you read or watch my stuff for a lengthy period of time, you begin to see my style. I can't put it down in words for you, I just write what I write how I write it. If you're down with that, then I'm down with that. Groovy, babies. Onward! My sign? My sign is Aries. I was born April 14th (For those of you who wanted to put it on the calender. I'm not saying I expect "Happy Birthday" emails or anything... it'd just be nice.) SO, there it is. I've done what you've asked of me, bold text. Are you happy? I'm happy. I'd like you to be happy as well so that I can say that we came to a mutual satisfaction, but I won't press the issue any longer. Billo

E. Huizarthe only things of interest are those linked to the heart. i laugh when i am nervous. i drink to calm my nerves. nothing comes easily in life that is worth greater purpose in the end. in it's pure beauty the world heals any pain that makes you suffer. i'm a soft spirit who looks for balance with her surroundings. birds carry the sky on thier backs, they are above reality and beyond others common ground. we all need to take flight in order to see. i truly am drawn to those who hold musical talent and energy. there's nothing like excess as long as it's in moderation. i have high expectations, but they are even greater for everyone around me. i was born with an enormous need for affection and a terrible need to give it.

Ronald FoxMy background in entertainment spans over two decades of wide-ranging experience in everything from traditional, classical theatre to interactive theatre, from renaissance festivals to film and television. As a published Author, I've penned books, screenplays, scripts for both theatre & film (both dramatic and action oriented) & custom marketing material. I have traveled extensively by plane, train, or automobile, and have logged hundreds of hours and thousands of miles as a passenger or pilot. My work as an actor, author, stuntman, producer, director, & fight choreographer - with experience both above and below the line - has allowed me the opportunity to work in the US and Canada, as well as throughout Western Europe. I combine my love of theatre and history with an insatiable appetite for travel. I have lived in several countries outside of the US, and have benefited from a close network of global friendships which have enabled me to see the world "as a native." I am fond of charity work, and dedicate much time to animal rescue, having worked in everything from placement to education regarding all creatures great and small. There is a remarkable sense of satisfaction, an uplifting feeling that comes from such selfless acts. these efforts are the things that allow us to depart our sense of the material and augment it with something greater. It is our obligation to make our world a better place, and leave it better than we found it. And this is my obligation to you, the reader. For more detailed information on me or my projects - past, current, or future-looking, please visit my official website.

MomaKittyI am 47 years old and have always dreamed of being a writer. Not for fame and fortune, but just to see an idea in print. I have worked since I was 15. I have one novel, but have been not had it published. Maybe someday. I am above all an optimist.

Denise McGrailI live in a western suburb in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. I own The M.U.S.I.C Program which is a music and movement program for area preschoolers. I enjoy my job because it allows me to introduce children to music while helping explore their creative selves. At the same time I get the opportunity to unleash my creativity. I have been writing for Associated Content for a few years, off and on. I enjoy this format because it gives me the opportunity to explore different topics and do something that I have loved since I was a little girl - writing. I hope that my content touches people and makes them see both the serious and the light side of life. I also hope that my writing inspires people to find ways to fulfill their life-long passions and dreams. In addition to everything mentioned above, in 2011 I fell in love with running. I know that sounds completely exaggerated and a little silly, but it is true. In the past year, I have gone from loathing running to making it part of my daily routine. I was a novice runner who completed her first 5K race in May with a sad time of 44:44 and by September I ran a race with a PR of 29:44. I also completed a half marathon in October. I would like to use Yahoo! Voices as an opportunity to write to an audience of beginning runners by sharing my stories and tips (like how bouncy balls work magic on your sore feet). I have a large group of running friends, all different levels, who continuously encourage me to expand my horizons and challenge what I believe to be my limits. I read blogs about running and have also started to mentor novice runners in my area to help them achieve their running and fitness goals. This is a new direction that my life has taken. Running has become an obsession with me and I happy to have this forum to share my experiences. Happy reading!
